A paramedic, a past Peace Corps Volunteer, a ballerina, an Emmy Award winner, a scientist, a former pro basketball player, and an underground caverns tour guide all took their seats. It was a milestone moment for the 266 incoming 1L students, as they came together in person for New Student Orientation and Convocation at St. John’s Law. Read all about it.

Scholarship
Professor Robin Boyle has signed with multiple publishers to share her insights and expertise in legal research and writing. Read all about her upcoming works—and about other Law School faculty activities and achievements—at our Faculty Scholarship Blog.
Professor Anna Roberts presented a work-in-progress, “Prior Conviction Impeachment of Prosecution Witnesses,” at the virtual Evidence Summer Workshop. She has also accepted an invitation to join the Pedagogy Subcommittee of the Law School Anti-Racist Consortium.
Professor Marissa Jackson Sow's latest paper, "Protect and Serve," will be published in the California Law Review. It asserts that, despite provisions of constitutional and statutory law, the mandate that police 'protect and serve' doesn't apply to Black people in the United States because they are the objects of racial contracting rather than participants therein.
Professor Eva Subotnik presented her forthcoming book chapter, “Dead-Hand Guidance: A Preferable Testamentary Approach for Artists," at the annual IP Scholars Conference hosted by Cardozo School of Law. The book chapter is a contribution to Posthumous Art, Law and the Art Market, a volume co-edited by Professor Peter J. Karol and Sharon Hecker, Ph.D., Art Historian, and Curator (Routledge 2022).
In the Media A recent Wallethub report on underprivileged children in the United States features the expert take of our very own Professor Jennifer Baum. Professor Baum directs our Child Advocacy Clinic, one of three in-house clinics at St. John’s Law where students gain practical skills hands on while advocating for marginalized individuals and communities.
