We hope to offer more Microsoft Specialist classes in the future. Stay tuned for more details. The first class will start on October 24 and has six students enrolled.

Khizr Khan to Address Students at Annual Ceremony

We are honored to welcome Khizr Khan as the guest speaker of the 2018 Student Achievement Ceremony, sponsored by Bank of the James. The Ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 8, 7:00 - 8:30 PM at The Haven.
Mr. Khan is a Charlottesville lawyer and author of An American Family: A Memoir of Hope and Sacrifice.
The Student Achievement Ceremony provides the opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of students and to recognize the hard work and dedication they have shown throughout the year. Students who have met significant milestones in their study will be recognized.
A light reception will follow the ceremony. Desserts will be provided by Junction, a Charlottesville restaurant.

Tomtoberfest Cornhole Champions: Pete & Chung

Underdogs, Pete and Chung beat 33 teams at last weekend's inaugural Tomtoberfest Cornhole tournament. As representatives of LVCA, the tutor-student pair defeated WillowTree in the final round to take home the victory. Chung had never played the game before and Pete taught him the rules during their tutoring sessions. Thanks to the Tom Tom Foundation for providing this opportunity for Pete and Chung to take their English lessons out into the community. Congratulations to Pete and Chung for representing us so well!

Alumni Update: Tenzin G.

We loved getting this message from a previous student last month. Tenzin worked with tutors for two years to accomplish his goal of obtaining a diploma through the National External Diploma Program (NEDP). He has left LVCA and will soon apply to PVCC.
I am Tenzin G. who recently completed NEDP through your help.  Without your support, I would not have completed NEDP. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for providing me the tutors, learning opportunities, and a beautiful place to study. I am eternally grateful for all your support. Thank you very, very much.
