Dear Loyola,
You did it! Actually, we did it. Together, as a community, we showed up for each other. As a result, we’re returning to campus with 91% of students and full-time faculty and staff vaccinated with at least one shot.
Combined with our other public health policies, like masking indoors, our campus has a new level of protection that allows us to return the spaces on campus where we can do our best learning—the labs, the studios, and the classrooms where we can realize the ambitions that brought us to Loyola in the first place.
As you dig into your coursework, don’t forget the guidelines we have in place to keep everyone safe. And know that we will continue to evaluate these guidelines throughout the semester and will make adjustments as needed for everyone’s safety.

Loyola’s Public Health Portal
Faculty, staff, and students should report symptoms of COVID-19, exposure, or a positive test result on Loyola’s Public Health Portal, which is available on the “Quick Links” page through your Single Sign On (SSO) for easy access.
Use the following credentials to log into the portal:
- Your username is your full Loyola email address. For example: xxxxxxxx@my.loyno.edu
- Your password is your Microsoft password. If you have changed your Microsoft password, use what you changed it to. If you have not yet changed your Microsoft password, the default password is the first two letters of your first name, followed by the last 4 digits of your social security number, then an uppercase LU. For example: abXXXXLU
If you have trouble logging in, please email support@loyno.edu or call the Help Desk at 504.865.2255.
- If You’re Feeling Sick: If you feel sick, schedule a COVID test and follow the recommendations of your healthcare provider. You can schedule in SHS by calling 504.865.3326, M – F, 8:30 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. If you’re feeling any symptoms of COVID-19, please report it on your public health portal.
- If You’re Exposed to COVID: If you’ve been in close contact with someone with COVID or receive a contact trace notification from someone outside of Loyola, please report it immediately on the portal. Public Health will conduct contact tracing for the Loyola community and let you know your next steps.
- Testing at Student Health: The Student Health clinic offers rapid testing for students, faculty, and staff who are feeling symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to the virus. You need to call 504.865.3326 to make an appointment, available M – F, 8:30 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.
For more details, please review our Symptoms, Testing, and Contact Tracing page and email covid@loyno.edu with any questions. Our public health team will also hold office hours from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m., Monday – Friday in the Student Affairs suite (Danna Center 205, directly above Starbucks). Drop in or schedule a consultation ahead of time to answer your questions about public health policies, vaccine facts, and more.

Follow Restrictions in New Orleans
Remember that everyone in New Orleans, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a mask indoors when with people who are not in their immediate household. This includes all indoor spaces on campus, like the gym and Danna Center. Additionally, if you plan to go to any gyms, restaurants, bars, or event venues around the city, make sure you have proof of vaccination or a negative PCR COVID-19 test result dated within 72 hours. Here are a few pointers!
If You’re Vaccinated
- Store your original card in a safe place. We suggest using a photo or a photocopy of the card (you need to show BOTH sides of the card) to prove your status rather than carrying your original card.
- If you are a Louisiana resident and were vaccinated in the state, you can download the LA Wallet app to provide proof of vaccination. You’ll need to provide your license, then you will be able to retrieve your “SMART Health Card” in the COVID-19 tab in the app.
- If you’ve lost your vaccine card, contact the location where you were vaccinated and request a replacement card. If you are not able to contact your original provider, contact your state's health department.
If You’re Unvaccinated
- It must be a PCR test. Rapid (antigen) and antibody (IgM, IgG) tests do not qualify for the city’s guidelines.
- PCR tests can take 2-3 days or longer to process results, so confirm the estimated turnaround time with your testing location ahead of time. Check the “Get Tested for COVID-19” tab on the website for a list of PCR testing locations near Loyola.
- If you decide you would like to get vaccinated, Ochsner Health will be vaccinating today in Mercy Hall from 2 – 6 p.m. The Louisiana Department of Health is giving away $100 gift cards to any students getting their shot.

HOWL for a Healthy Pack!
Wolf Pack, you showed up and got vaccinated to protect yourself and your community against COVID-19. You're setting the example for what it means to be people with and for others. To show our gratitude, we will award $100 in Wolf Bucks to one vaccinated student, selected randomly on Friday, August 27! All students who are vaccinated and have been verified as in compliance with Loyola’s vaccine requirement will be automatically entered into the contest. The winner will be notified via their Loyno email by September 3, 2021.
