We’ve become used to the practice of setting our clocks forward one hour from standard time during the winter months to daylight-savings time in the summer. With the changing of the clocks also comes the anticipation of a season changing from winter to spring. Spring is a beautiful season where the cycle of nature comes into play with the renewal brought by rain, the beauty of new flowers, greening trees and grass, the sounds of birds, etc. We say good-bye to the cold winter and move forward into the warmth of spring.
The apostle Paul says of his personal life: “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:12–14 NIV)
Brothers and Sisters, whatever happened during the past winter, let us move forward under the promises of our Lord Jesus with new anticipation and hope for a new season in our lives, families, and ministries. Let us pray for the strength to move forward under the power of the Holy Spirit.
