Justice Lagoa speaks with students during FSU Law's welcome reception for Florida's newest justices.
Last week, we hosted a welcome reception at the law school for our three newest Florida Supreme Court justices: Justice Barbara Lagoa, Justice Robert J. Luck and Justice Carlos G. Muñiz. It was our honor to welcome them to Tallahassee and to FSU Law for the first time. Chief Justice Charles Canady and Justices Jorge Labarga, Alan Lawson (’87) and Ricky Polston (’87) also attended the event, where the full court mingled with our students, alumni and professors. The reception was a wonderful opportunity to make connections with our new justices. It was a special treat to see all seven justices of the Florida Supreme Court assembled together at FSU Law. Our location across the street from the Florida Supreme Court is a huge benefit for students attending FSU Law. Justices enrich our community by speaking and teaching at the law school, and attending events with our students and alumni. They also regularly hire our students and graduates for externships and clerkships. We are very much looking forward to building relationships with Florida’s newest justices and having them engaged with the FSU Law community!

Board of Visitors Members Visit FSU Law

FSU Law Board of Visitors member Wendy Wiener ('93) speaks with a student during the annual meeting.
In late February, we had the pleasure of welcoming many of our most supportive alumni and friends to the law school for our annual Board of Visitors meeting. Board members met with students and faculty members, were briefed on recent developments at FSU Law and provided valuable input on our programs. Highlights of the meeting included opportunities for board members to interact with current scholarship recipients and representatives from some of our most dynamic student organizations, and presentations by two of our newest faculty members, Carla Laroche and Michael Morley, both of whom are already helping raise the profile of FSU Law. Our Board of Visitors is the senior support organization of the College of Law, whose members serve in an advisory capacity on a wide range of issues. Many thanks to our members for their support and engagement!
