Good Evening:
Please see the above link to the IBA Career Day, which will be Saturday March 30.
Thank you, IBA, for supporting IRW.
From the Reading Pile: FCC eyes Radio Station ownership as next deregulation target.

The 2019 class of the ISSA Hall of Fame will be enshrined on April 7, at the Valle Vista Country Club in Greenwood.

Mike Haynes, former voice of the Colorado Avalanche
Robin Miller, NBCSN (formerly of The Indianapolis Star)
Rita Price, WRSW Radio in Warsaw
Art Saltsberg, WOWO Radio in Fort Wayne
Corky Lamm Sportswriter of the Year – Mike Carmin, Lafayette Journal & Courier

Northeast
After three years of leading the sales team for Federated Media's Rock/WBYR (98.9fm, Woodburn), GSM Shelly Steckler exits "98.9 The Bear."
Northcentral
After nearly 40 years, Maureen McFadden will soon retire from Gray Television's NBC affiliate/WNDU-TV (Channel 16, South Bend). Ms. McFadden anchors the evening news, either solo (depending on the newscast time) or alongside her brother Terry McFadden.
Gray recently hired Lauren Moss as Ms. McFadden's successor. Ms. Moss last worked in Waterloo, Iowa, both anchoring and producing at Quincy Media's KWWL-TV.
It was October 1958 when Goshen College signed on their 91.1fm station as WGCS. In June 2004, WGCS became an Americana formatted station as "91.1 The Globe." Many college students have either begun or furthered their broadcasting careers at WGCS.
Goshen College recently added an online TV station ("Globe TV") from a renovated television studio (now 4K) in the campus library. The TV station will air local programs, including college news and college sports shows.
Northwest
Taylor Haggerty joins as a reporter for Purdue University's WBAA(AM)/W290CM (920am, West Lafayette; 105.9fm, Lafayette) and WBAA-FM (101.3fm; West Lafayette). Ms. Haggerty last worked at Indiana University's News-Classical-Jazz/WFIU (103.7fm, Bloomington) and its five translator network.
Eastcentral
Broadcast engineer Jeff Cummings died late last month. Age 59. Mr. Cummings did various projects at several Muncie, Anderson, and New Castle radio stations. During his career, he also worked at WISH-TV (Channel 8, Indianapolis). He also owned an electronics repair business ("Time Electronics"), and served as engineer for several area LPFMs. Here's the complete obituary.
Central
Cumulus Media will acquire the three Entercom/Indianapolis radio stations, bringing their total radio station ownership in Indiana's capital to six frequencies. Cumulus already owns:
Country/WFMS (95.5fm, Fishers)
Classic Hits/WJJK (104.5fm, Noblesville)
CHR/WYRG (93.9fm, Lawrence)
Entercom owns:
CHR/WZPL (99.5fm, Greenfield)
AC/WNTR (107.9fm, Indianapolis)
Sports/WXNT (1430am, Indianapolis)
This deal doesn't have a price tag, as Cumulus and Entercom swapped the Entercom/Indianapolis cluster for a New York City radio station and two radio stations in Springfield, Massachusetts.
In 2004, Entercom paid $73.5 million for WZPL, what was then WTPI (107.9fm) and WXNT. Entercom purchased the radio stations from Mickey Maurer and Bob Schloss' MyStar Communications.
Cumulus will begin an LMA with WZPL, WNTR, and WXNT on March 1. The three stations' studios will all eventually move from N. Meridian St. to Cumulus' building on Shadeland Avenue. Will there be format changes? Possibly.
Emmis Communications owns radio stations at 93.1fm and 97.1fm. Today, they're WIBC and WLHK, but they once were WNAP (93.1fm) and WENS (97.1fm). Matt White worked for both WNAP (Sales Manager) and WENS. Mr. White recently lost his battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). He was 52. Mr. White graduated from Butler University. He was 33 when doctors diagnosed him with ALS, and they gave him four years to live.
Butler University recently renamed their practice basketball court as The Matt White Court, as Mr. White was a devoted Butler Bulldogs fan. His fraternity brothers and friends contributed a significant sum to Butler University, and the basketball court was recently renamed in his honor. Here's the complete obituary.
The Lilly Endowment and the CPB (Corporation for Public Broadcasting) contributed over $1.7 million to Metropolitan Indianapolis Public Broadcasting's NPR affiliate/WFYI-FM (90.1fm, Indianapolis), and PBS affiliate WFYI-TV (Channel 20, Indianapolis), along with eight other Indiana Public Broadcasting stations around the state. These monies will be used to expand statewide news coverage, including adding new journalists (beat reporters, video journalist, and a managing editor), along with a daily talk show heard throughout the state on IPBS member radio stations.
Westcentral
DLC Media flips the format of their Light AC/WFNB (92.7fm, Brazil) to Rock. "92.7 The Rock" airs Westwood One's Rock 2.0 format. Core artists include Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Green Day, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Alice in Chains.
