Cumulus' LMA of the three Entercom/Indianapolis radio stations will begin in a few hours, at 12:01am, Friday March 1. Recently, several Entercom employees learned that Cumulus won't be keeping them. Among the cuts that we have learned at press time:
Kent Sterling, afternoon host of "The Kent Sterling Show" on CBS Sports Radio affiliate/WXNT (1430am, Indianapolis). Mr. Sterling joined WXNT in 2014 and became PD in 2016. Before joining WXNT, Mr. Sterling previously programmed across town at Emmis' Sports/WFNI (1070am, Indianapolis) and N-T/WIBC (93.1, Indianapolis).
Kari Johll ("KJ"), APD and afternoon host at AC/WNTR (107.9fm, Indianapolis). Ms. Johll rose to APD duties; first at clustermate CHR/WZPL (99.5fm, Greenfield), and then "107.9 The Mix."
Chelsie Nickell, Social Media Coordinator. Ms. Nickell joined Entercom/Indianapolis' Promotions Team, earned promotions to Promotions Assistant, Administrative Assistant, and finally Social Media Coordiantor.
Several Indianapolis TV anchors or reports will soon exit, or have exited their respective stations:
Elizabeth Choi will exit tomorrow from Nexstar's CW affiliate/WISH-TV (Channel 8, Indianapolis).
Matt Smith exits Tribune's CBS affiliate/WTTV-TV (Channel 4) and FOX affiliate/WXIN-TV (Channel 59) after four years. During his tenure, Mr. Smith held multiple roles: Reporter, weekend evening anchor, main fill-in weekday anchor, and acting weekend managing editor. Mr. Smith will join WISN-TV in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which is the state he worked in before his broadcasting journey lead him to Indiana: He worked at WBAY-TV in Green Bay, Wisconsin for several years.
David Dearing exits as producer of "The Grady and Big Joe Show" at Emmis' Sports/WFNI (1070am, Indianapolis) and translator W298BB (107.5fm, Indianapolis). Mr. Dearing joined ESPN 107.5/1070 The Fan in late 2011.
