Registration is now open for the Indiana Broadcasters Conference taking place on November 17. The conference will take place in Carmel, at the 502 East Event Centre. The conference includes The Spectrum Awards and Richard M. FairbanksHall of Fame luncheon, along with many breakout sessions.
This year’s Hall of Fame inductees are:
Bob Kevoian and Tom Griswold - Indianapolis-based nationally syndicated radio hosts
Bill Shirk - radio entrepreneur
Brad Byrd - lead anchor-managing editor WEHT (ABC) WVTW (CW) Evansville
Ed Roehling - radio station owner

Where Are They Now? On October 3, former WYCM-FM morning host Larry "Big Red" Stevens will make the cross country trek to program and host afternoons at Adams Radio Group's WKHI-FM in the Salisbury, Maryland market .

The LifeFM Network launches on the HD3 signal of Woof Boom Radio's CHR/WLBC (104.1fm, Muncie), which feeds a pair of translators: 250 watt W271BY (102.1, Pendleton) and 13 watt W278BY (103.5fm, Muncie).

At Entercom's Hot AC/WZPL (99.5fm, Greenfield), Morning Show Producer Taylor Scott earns a promotion to MD under OM/PD J.R. Ammons. Mr. Scott also helms the evening shift at sister AC/WNTR (107.9fm, Indianapolis).
Myra Ellison exits as Promotions Director for Entercom's AC/WNTR (107.9fm, Indianapolis) and joins Entercom's Madison, Wisconsin cluster, as Director of Marketing, Promotions, and Web.

September 25: In 1966, 89.5fm, Valparaiso signed on as WVUR. It later moved to 95.1fm. In 1996, WDJB 106.3fm, Columbia City flipped formats from Rhythmic CHR to Modern AC, as "Storm 106.3." (here's a very brief snippet from the beginning, and here's a very brief snippet of how it sounded a month later).
September 26: In 1954, WANE-TV signed on (as WINT-TV, licensed to and studios in Waterloo.) In 1990, WBBE 106.3fm, Columbia City signs on with CHR format. Hear the sign on.
September 27: In 1926, 1490am, Richmond signs on as WKBV ("William Knox BrookVille") and still is. In 1953, Channel 50 in Evansville signed on at 3:00pm as WEHT-TV ("Watch Evansville-Henderson Television.")
September 28: In 1957, Channel 21 in Fort Wayne signed on at 3:00pm as WPTA-TV (for founder Sarkes Tarzian's daughter and son Patricia and Thomas). In 1964, 105.3fm, Lafayette signs on as WASK-FM. In 1967, 107.5fm, Terre Haute signs on as WBOW-FM.
September 29: In 1998, former Indianapolis broadcaster Lou Sherman dies.
September 30: In 1950, 90.9fm in Bloomington signed on as WFIU. It later moved to 103.7fm. In 1971, 1380am WKJG and 97.3fm WKJG-FM (both Fort Wayne) each broke off from co-ownership with WKJG-TV and signed off (see below).
October 1: In 1954, 90.1fm in Indianapolis signed on as WIAN. In 1962, 98.9fm in Van Wert, Ohio signs on as WERT-FM. In 1967, Palladium Printing Co. president Stanley Banyon dies. Palladium owned WHFB(AM) in Benton Harbor, Michigan. In 1971, 1380am WKJG and 97.3fm WKJG-FM became WMEE(AM) and WMEF-FM. In 1975, 105.5fm, Bedford signs on as WBIF-FM. In 1994, 100.5fm, Princeton signs on as WSJD. In 1996, Samuel Smulyan dies. In 2012, Thy Word Network/Evansville president Don Chagle dies.
