Good Evening:
Northeast
In 2011, Kayla Blakeslee joined N-T/WOWO (1190am, Fort Wayne) as a news anchor. Over a four year career there, she became News Director. In 2015, Ms. Blakeslee left WOWO for about a year, to work for the Ohio Department of Transportation. Ms. Blakeslee rejoined WOWO in 2016 and became PD and News Director. Yesterday, she also became the new host of Fort Wayne's Morning News, succeeding the late Charly Butcher, who died in August. Fort Wayne's Morning News airs from 5am until 9am weekdays and it's also simulcast for 90 minutes each morning (5:30am until 7am) on Quincy Media's MyTV affiliate on a digital subchannel of WPTA-TV (Channel 21.3, Fort Wayne).
Ms. Blakesless joins the Fort Wayne's Morning News team, which includes news anchor Darrin Wright, sports director Mike Ragz and producer Jay Prince.
Monday morning, veteran TV News Director Don Bradley (born Don Burian) died. For over a decade, Mr. Bradley served as News Director for ABC affiliate/WPTA-TV (Channel 21, Fort Wayne). In 2005, WPTA-TV and WISE-TV (Channel 33, Fort Wayne) were each sold, and a Shared Services Agreement between "21 Alive" and "NBC33" meant that Mr. Bradley briefly served as News Director for WISE-TV before leaving WPTA and WISE's building on Butler Road that same year. No arrangements announced, yet.
A former Art Director for WANE-TV (Channel 15, Fort Wayne) died on October 8. John Souder was 80 years old. Mr. Souder also designed each year's poster for the ACD (Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival).
Yesterday afternoon, a reception and memorial service honored John's life. Here's the complete obituary.
