Employee Tuition Benefit extended to additional family members

All PSU employees who are eligible for the Staff Fee Privilege (also known as Employee Tuition Discount) can now be transferred to up to two family members to use toward undergraduate classes here at Portland State. This new benefit was announced by President Stephen Percy on Friday as part of a tentative agreement between PSU and AAUP employees — while the economics of the agreement are tentative, the extended employee tuition discount is already enacted for all eligible employees, whether or not they are represented by a union. Details of this expanded benefit are available on the Human Resources webpage.

Search officially launches for next PSU president

The worldwide search is on for Portland State’s next president. Earlier this year, President Stephen Percy announced his upcoming retirement. Last week, the PSU Search Advisory Committee and AGB Search officially launched the search process and the Presidential Profile, which was created with feedback received during on-campus listening sessions earlier this month. Details about the job posting can be found on the AGB Search website. Questions and nominations should be sent to PortlandStatePresident@agbsearch.com.

McNair Scholars Program applications are open now

The McNair Scholars Program application is now open for the 2023 cohort. Informational sessions will be offered both in-person and virtually if your students would like more information. Times, location, and links are available online. Applications are due Friday, Nov. 18, 2022.

PSU Research Award nominations

Nominate a colleague for one of PSU’s annual Research Awards, managed by Research & Graduate Studies. Name-only nominations and external contacts for Presidential Award nominees are due today: Monday, Oct. 24. Nominations must be completed Monday, Nov. 14 to be eligible for review.

Midterm resources available at the Learning Center

Midterms are almost here! Set your students up for success by letting them know they can meet with an academic coach or peer tutor from the Learning Center to set goals and discuss study strategies. Learning Center services are free and open to all students. Faculty and staff can also submit a request for our ROADS to Success presentation series on topics such as motivation, time management, and study strategies to be presented in your classes.
