Golf Season Is Almost Here – Practice Facility Now Open! |
|
|
Welcome to the 2025 Golf Season!
We will be hitting our first tee shots soon as the Mountain Course opens Saturday, May 17!
Momentum is building at both courses toward the season ahead. This week, we hosted a site visit at SCC with one of the architects from Beau Welling Design to review punch-list items in preparation for the grand opening of the new front 9 at Stowe Country Club. The goal to get SCC open my Memorial Day Weekend.
In the meantime, the Practice Facility is open, and we’re kicking off the season with a few special opportunities:
This Saturday sign up for a One-on-One Putter Fitting: Personalized sessions with Mountain Course Head Pro Sean Toof. Spots are limited—register today!
We can’t wait to welcome you back to both courses soon!

Proper golf attire is required of all members anywhere on property, even if just using the practice facility.
- Guests are not permitted to the practice facility at this time as we are members-only. Once we open the course, guests are welcome to use the practice facility before an accompanied round of golf or register for a practice facility guest fee.
- Help us take care of our practice facility:
- Practice like a pro and save our turf with a proper divot pattern- see the bottom of this email for a full lesson!
- Clean up your space to leave it ready for the next member- return your basket, pick up unused or broken tees, clear off chipping greens. Our team will have a heightened presence this year, but we can all do our part to leave this area better than we found it.
- Full swings are only permitted from the designated teeing area
- Please note, outside alcohol is never permitted on club property

Practice with Purpose: Divot Patterns Matter
Golfers love to practice. But have you ever wondered how the pattern of your divots on the practice range tee affects the golf course? With every swing of an iron, a divot of turf is usually removed. A small bucket of golf balls (typically 25 or 30 balls) can remove a lot of turf. And if you’re really working on your short game it is not uncommon to hit 100 shots or more. This means a lot of divots which require a lot of turf recovery before a tee stall may be returned to the same location.
Golfers have a big impact on the amount of turf coverage and performance of practice range tees. How one practices not only influences how much turf is removed with each swing, but also how quickly the turf will recover. The three most common divot patterns – scattered, concentrated and linear – can be seen in the photo.
