DECEMBER 10, 2024
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the last CITAL newsletter of 2024. It’s hard to believe that the end of the Fall term is here and the holiday break is just around the corner. In this edition of the newsletter, we highlight the future of online and graduate education at Valpo by presenting an interview with Stefanie Heinrich, Director for Graduate and Online Education, in the blog. Next, we feature a recent interaction between faculty teaching award winners and new faculty. Finally, we round out the issue with useful reminders about Canvas, Quality Matters, and Simple Syllabus. Thank you again for joining us in an exhilarating year full of faculty learning communities, orientations, workshops, artificial intelligence, LMS transitions, and exploring the future of higher education. May you have a blessed and happy holiday season.
Sincerely,
The CITAL Team (Ed, Cindy, Gina, and Marsennia)

Meeting the Future with Online and Graduate Education

Stefanie Heinrich wants to help faculty create high-quality online and graduate courses so that Valpo can meet the future. Stefanie, our new Director for Graduate and Online Education, notes that future trends show that these two areas have great potential for growth. That is because early and mid-career Gen Zers are looking for help in changing careers or earning new credentials, while mid-career Millennials are looking toward graduate education to enhance their career opportunities.

One Valuable Thing for Teaching

This fall, some veteran faculty who have won campus teaching awards met with new faculty for a conversation about good teaching. Some of those veteran faculty also shared in writing one valuable thing that helped them with teaching.
