New parking features coming for 2025-26 academic year |
University Services at Radford University will implement new parking features for the upcoming academic year. These updates will make parking services easier to navigate for the Highlander community and easier to manage for parking officials.
Among the changes will be:
- Virtual permits – no more hang tags. Instead, University Services will use license plate recognition (LPR), an advanced parking technology that reads license plates as virtual permits instead of using hang tag permits.
| |
Individuals will register vehicle plate information into the online parking system when purchasing their virtual permits. The LPR software then generates a virtual permit linked to the vehicle’s license plate number. When a vehicle parks on campus, cameras mounted on the enforcement vehicle capture the license plate. When read, the numbers on your plate are automatically referenced against the parking database to verify a valid permit or parking session and the proper parking location for the permit. If the license plate and vehicle information are not associated with a valid virtual permit or parking session, and the vehicle is parked in the incorrect lot, it will be subject to a citation. The license plate information collected in this process will only be referenced against the campus database for the strict purposes of verifying parking permits on campus. The enforcement rules will not change because of this new technology.
- Short-term, 30-minute parking spaces.
- Pay-by-app for hourly or daily parking.
- Updated parking signage in each lot on campus.
- A new online portal for easier account management.
Parking permits for the 2025-26 academic year will go on sale at https://radford.aimsparking.com/ on Friday, Aug. 1 and will cost $180 for the year. You will also be able to purchase a virtual permit through the parking services office located in Heth Hall.

The university’s new bookstore services provider, eCampus.com, is on-site the week of June 23, preparing for the opening of the Highlander Bookstore in Dalton Hall on Tuesday, July 1.
| |

This includes arranging inventory and setting up point-of-sale systems and other necessary infrastructure. eCampus is currently in the process of recruiting a store manager and hiring part-time staff. Behind-the-scenes work is ongoing by the Radford and eCampus implementation team to accomplish technology integrations, set up the inclusive course materials access program, carry out merchandise planning and market the changes to our campus community.
The website for the new Highlander Bookstore is now live.
Information for students enrolled in Fast Track B and Summer II courses has been activated on the site. The Help and Customer Service features of the site are also active. The full site will be operational on July 1. Steps on accessing the materials have been sent out to the enrolled students and faculty teaching in these terms. Faculty with questions about course materials or adoptions can reach the eCampus.com course materials team at https://radford.ecampus.com/.
Thank you all for your patience as we transition to a new provider.
