From the Ranch House

Long-Range Planning Survey
Last day to Submit July 20!

Thanks to the 275 people who have already filled out the long-range planning survey and expressed their views. The long-range plan being developed this summer will have a lasting impact on our community and it will likely involve a significant expenditure. So, it’s important to have as much input as possible. There are still hundreds more of you from whom we want to hear. Click here for the survey.
What have we heard so far? Over 30% of those responding come to the Ranch House three or more times a week, but 20% come in only a few times a year. Almost everyone likes the shaded areas around the pool. The most popular improvement would be to offer better food options according to 45% of respondents.
How many folks would be interested in massages if they were available at the Ranch House?  Survey says over half of those responding would. That’s a lot of sore muscles and stiff necks!
The survey says that 67% of the respondents either play pickleball or would be interested in playing pickleball. And most would play at the Ranch House if there were courts. Meantime, almost 68% never play tennis and only 7.5% use the tennis courts three or more times a week.
It is this kind of input that the long-range planning committee both needs and appreciates. So, if you haven’t yet filled out the survey, please, please do it now. It will only be open until July 20. Yes, the deadline for responding is July 20. So, give your input by clicking here and take the survey.
We’ll share much more of the survey results at the July 27 Annual Meeting, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Barn. Thanks!

Green Tip
Please enjoy the following eco-friendly tidbit brought to you by Friends of the Environment:
Most people probably think it saves water to wash dishes by hand, rather than using a dishwasher. But according to the EPA the average newer (10 years old or less) dishwasher uses 8.7 gallons of water per load, whereas washing dishes by hand for 10 minutes with the water running can use up to 20 gallons. But what about the energy used? A newer dishwasher uses about 1800 watts per cycle, which is roughly the energy used to power a hairdryer for 10 minutes. So running the dishwasher conserves water and uses little energy. Just make sure it's full before using it!

Reminders & Highlights

Fitness Class Cancellation Policy due to Low Attendance
Group fitness classes must have a minimum of 3 participants the day before at 5 p.m. to be held.
If there are not 3 participants at 5 p.m. the day prior, class will be cancelled and those registered will be notified by email and phone.
Water Reduction
RVRMA is starting a water reduction initiative on portions of Crystal Bridge Drive. Areas along Crystal Bridge that are currently native grass and mostly empty lots bordering native lands will be tested with a reduced watering schedule. Additionally, we will allow some grass areas on Crystal Bridge to grow higher than normal. This will allow the grass to hold more water and reduce evaporative loss.
You may see a change in the appearance of grass in these test areas. We thank you for your patience as we try different tactics to help reduce the amount of water we utilize in our common areas.
Budget Planning
In preparation for budget season, RVR management is taking a proactive approach this year. As discussed at June's Board meeting, a draft timeline has been created.
A preliminary budget draft will be shared with the community early in the process. We endeavor to be transparent throughout the process and look forward to the community's input.
Keep Dogs Leashed
We would like to remind all dog owners to be sure and keep your pups leashed while traveling throught the neighborhood.
Click here to learn more about the Town of Carbondale's leash laws and nuisance dog ordinances. RVRMA CC&R's, section 3.17, also requires pets to be leashed and accompanied by the owner when outside.
Thank you for practicing courteous pet ownership!
