The Town of Carbondale is celebrating Arbor Day on Saturday, May 4 this year. Arbor Day is usually a time when people come together to plant trees and shrubs. But what about your existing plants and trees? This is also a good reminder to consider the health of what is already in your yard. Do you have trees and bushes that need pruning? Maybe some fertilizer? Do you know the best pruning technique or appropriate soil amendment for your plant? Check the leaves and bark. How healthy are they? Preserving our existing trees is always a better option than eventual tree removal. There are many resources to help. There are websites dedicated to plant health, there are a number of licensed tree care professionals in the valley, and most nurseries can also provide guidance. Bring a sample or picture of any issue and they can usually identify the cause and offer a solution. So in addition to planting new trees for Arbor Day, let's also save the ones we have.

The deer fencing removal deadline has been extended to Wednesday, May 15. You may remove fencing at any time but must have it down and properly stored by the deadline.
To view the Design Review Guidelines on deer fencing click here.

|
A kind reminder to RVR residents who are storing their deer fencing for the summer season: please make sure it’s stored out of sight from the street and from your neighbors. Whether that means storing the fencing in your basement, attic, crawl space, or offsite away from RVR, please find a place for the deer fencing that has no visual impact on the RVR community.
