On October 30, 2024, the inaugural Innovators Day brought together esteemed professionals, researchers and innovators to celebrate achievements and foster the future of digital health. Dr. Emily Law, Dr. Alex Chiu and Chris Wilson launched the day with a warm welcome and an overview of accomplishments in 2024. Highlights included building interdepartmental connections, advancing research and commercialization, guiding faculty toward entrepreneurship, welcoming the first fellow and presenting the first Early-Stage Digital Health Innovation Award. Looking forward, the Co/Lab announced Dr. Chiu’s departure and an expansion in leadership. Additionally, a new RFA for the Rising Investigator Digital Health Innovation Award was announced, focused on nurturing emerging talent in digital health research and commercialization.
A standout moment was Dr. David Asch’s plenary address, “Automation and Emotion in Health and Health Care,” which examined how technology intersects with the human and behavioral elements of healthcare. Panel discussions explored commercialization, led by Maria Flynn, and spotlighted early-stage innovation with Dr. Mohammed Haeri. Attendees then joined Dr. Simon Craddock Lee for an engaging series of presentations showcasing collaborative projects from tech developers, researchers, and clinicians, including advancements in spinal implant diagnostics, mHealth in maternal care, and digital clinical trials.
The day concluded with a Q&A and networking hour, where attendees connected and shared insights.
