JOIN OUR SOCIAL JUSTICE COUNCIL TONIGHT for a FILM SCREENING to HIGHLIGHT IMMIGRATION ISSUES

This evening, The Academy's Social Justice Council will host a screening of Who Is Dayani Cristal at 7:00 PM. The film tells the story of a migrant who finds himself in the stretch of desert along the U.S.-Mexico border known as “the corridor of death” and shows how one life becomes testimony to the tragic results of the U.S. war on immigration. A guided discussion on the related issues will take place following the film. Admission is free, with popcorn and beverages provided and snacks for sale by donation. All proceeds from this event will be donated to United We Dream, an organization dedicated to youth immigration empowerment and preserving Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). You can see a trailer for this film here. We hope you will join us!

The Gratitude Project

The Gratitude Project is an initiative of The Health and Wellness Council with the goal of promoting positivity. Participating students write at least one thing they're grateful for on a sticky note every day so that rather than thinking of negative things they'll focus on what they're going to write, improving their attitude overall.

Summer Internship Opportunities

In its third year, The Academy Summer Internship Program seeks to place high school students in one- to two-week, unpaid internships in businesses around the area. This is a great opportunity for students to:
  • Explore possible career interests,
  • Gain some working experience,
  • Build networking skills with professionals
Any curious student should fill out the interest form and return it to Dr. Bloomfield by December 15.
