From the Dean

The semester culminated this month with spring commencement, and our students made up half of the university’s graduates. It’s an exciting time for our seniors as they embark on the next phase of their lives, beginning careers built on the solid foundation provided by their Clemson Experience. Two of our graduates will be true global ambassadors. One graduate has won a Fulbright Scholarship that will take him to Hungary to work in mathematics research. Another has won a Boren Fellowship, the first recipient of this award from Clemson. She will be traveling to China where she will study Mandarin and participate in a medical internship.

They’ll be standing on the shoulders of our outstanding engineering and science alumni, six of whom were recognized this month at our banquet. Four were inducted into the Thomas Green Clemson Academy of Engineers and Scientists, and two were recognized as Outstanding Young Alumni. It’s an exhilarating month for the college. We’re sending out our new graduates to further the legacy of those who have gone before them. It’s an honor to be part of that cycle.

Wishing you the best for a relaxing, restful summer.
