Countdown to the Third Annual Vegan Hotdish Cookoff
Join us for a delicious time at the Third Annual Twin Cities Vegan Hotdish Cookoff this Sunday, March 1st from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Fuller Park Recreation Center, 48th St.and Grand Ave. S in Minneapolis. Original recipes from area cooks will be vying for two prize categories: Audience Favorite and Judge's Choice, with additional prizes for the runners up. We are excited that our judge's panel includes sister and brother duo Aubry and Kale Walch of The Herbivorous Butcher and Mary Johnson Strand, the 2014 Judge's Choice winner.

Come and support ARC's animal advocacy work while tasting a variety of delicious hotdishes for only $1 per sample. Free beverages will be provided and there will be lots of great door prizes, including those from Peace Coffee, The Herbivorous Butcher, Meadowlands Chocolate, LUV, Comfort Candy, Sunshine Burgers, Kitchen Window, and Ethique Nouveau.

We're hoping to make this event as waste-free as possible so bring a muffin tin or plate for samples, a fork, and a cup if you can. If not, they will be provided. We're looking forward to seeing you there!

A large crowd came out for our Treeline Cheese vegan cheese sampling event. This artisanal cheese was a big hit with tasters.

A Path for Healing the Earth, Our Bodies, and Animals 
As part of ARC's expanding outreach to faith-based communities, ARC Director Dallas Rising and volunteer Barbara Stasz will speak at Parkway United Church of Christ on Thursday, March 12 on the theme: Veganism: A Path for Healing the Earth, Our Bodies, and Animals. They will present on the benefits of a plant-based diet and answer audience questions.They'll also be announcing some exciting new free programs from North Vegans available to residents of the North side. The talk will begin at 7:00 p.m. after a vegan soup and bread dinner which starts at 6:15 p.m. Go to the church parking lot at the corner of Lowry & Vincent Avenues, park there, and go in via the parking lot entrance (the church is located at 3120 Washburn Avenue N in Minneapolis). The dinner and talk are both open to the public, but please RSVP to 612-522-2982 by 3/9 to attend the dinner.

Free Screening of Lolita: Slave to Entertainment
ARC is hosting a free screening of Lolita: Slave to Entertainment on Sunday, March 8 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Minnehaha Free Space, 3747 Minnehaha Ave. S in MinneapolisThis documentary tells the story of Lolita, an orca whale captured in 1970 off the coast of Washington state. Lolita has been enslaved for over 44 years at Miami Seaquarium, in the world's smallest orca tank. Please RSVP at Minnesota AR Meetup.

Join the ARC In Action meetings on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at 317 W 48th St. in Minneapolis. You don't have to be vegetarian or vegan to participate. We'd like to get to know you, and the animals need your help. If you can't make it to a meeting, you can fill out our online volunteer form.
