To Our Campus Community:
Due to the rising incidence of COVID-19 infections in our community, and based on the latest guidance from local health experts, UMKC is updating its face-coverings policy to require students, faculty, staff and visitors to wear masks in public indoor settings, beginning Aug. 2. This also complies with updated advice from the city of Kansas City.
On that date, all four University of Missouri System universities are instituting a mask requirement in an effort to slow the spread of the Delta variant of the coronavirus. The requirement will remain in place at all four universities until Sept. 15, when the policy will be reevaluated.

Masking Policy

At UMKC, masks will be required in classrooms, laboratories, libraries, meeting rooms and any other public indoor settings regardless of vaccination status. That includes a continuation of our policy to wear masks in all community spaces in UMKC residence halls.
Individuals who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 will continue to be required to wear masks at all times while on campus, indoors or outdoors.
All other COVID-related protocols remain in place, such as notifying the university about an exposure, symptoms or positive results; isolation/quarantine procedures, and mask requirement exemptions.

Vaccination Database

We are also instituting a voluntary system for students and employees to upload their vaccination status to a university database. Vaccinated individuals who take advantage of this opportunity will not be required to quarantine after an exposure to an infected individual.
Individuals may begin uploading vaccine information starting Aug. 2 (the uploader won’t work until then). Here’s the link for students; faculty and staff should use the COVID Vaccine Uploader in myHR.
We continue to urge all members of our community to be vaccinated against this deadly disease. Vaccination remains our single best defense against COVID-19. We continue to offer vaccinations to members of our campus community through our partners at Truman Medical Centers/University Health. Register online or call (816) 404-CARE (2273) and press option 1.
By working together in a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect and regard for our fellow members of the UMKC community, we can persevere through this ongoing challenge.
In this together,
