GAUCHO ARGENTINO – HIS STORY UNCOVERED

Not many people know the story of the 7 foot, 800 pound Argentinian gaucho that stands at the entrance of Whalen Plaza at the Mosher Alumni House – until now. A reception was held honoring the sculptor, Teresa de Fargo Corominas, and stories were shared detailing the long journey this sculpture endured before it wound up here at UC Santa Barbara.

Data on the 92,017 freshmen who applied for a place in UCSB’s class of 2022 and the 29,782 high school seniors who were admitted suggests a population that is as broad and bright as it is big.

YO-YO HAS THE WORLD ON A STRING

Legendary cellist’s address on culture, understanding and survival to highlight 2019 All Gaucho Reunion Weekend

The cellist YoYo Ma is such an icon that he transcended the classical music world and earned a place in popular culture, from The Simpsons to Seinfeld. But it is his experiences beyond the music world that will be the focus of his appearance at the Granada Theatre in Santa Barbara on April 27 during the 2019 All Gaucho Reunion Weekend, April 25-28. Also performing will be Silkroad Ensemble, Friday, April 26, 2018. Individual tickets go on sale Saturday, August 4, 2018. These acclaimed performances are presented by UC Santa Barbara Arts and Lectures.
