Like everyone, I am waiting to hear what is next for my favorite theme parks. In the meantime, since having completed two new Gallery of Lights, my desk is clear and after years of delay I finally have the time to begin writing the History of my work.

     This first publication titled No. 1 Binder "The Poultry Seller" 1992 covers in depth the entire sculpting and painting process of this special micro work. In fact, in my 43 years of sculpting, it is the only design I have ever photographed the process in such detail and for those that complete the reading, I hope they feel inspired to buy some Wax and start carving.

     Besides the technical presentation of carving I also cover the "Lost Wax" process which should be of interest to those that are new to the world of casting in metal. Since the "Poultry Seller" was created to commemorate my first Museum Retrospective which opened in 1993 at the Carnegie Museum in Oxnard, California, I have presented this work in the context of my life at the time, beginning with my second ever micro work, the "Pre-Goebel" 1977 "Poultry Seller" which gives insight into the very beginnings of my full time career as a miniature sculptor and extends to insights about the origin of my "Smock" and the 24 shows I did in 1992 following the completion of the "Poultry Seller'.

     Also included are 2 brochures with commentary by Andrew Voth on the "Art Of Miniature" which were published and written to coincide with the Carnegie Museums Retrospective of my work. 

     My hope is that you will enjoy the History and personal insights that are included in this 52 page "Self Publication" as presented in "Binder" form and printed by myself and assembled in my home studio. Please know that I arrived at this approach as no other format, book or video, would be adequate to share my thoughts surrounding 2 designs in such detail. With such depth, a book covering all of my work would be too large and a video would be too long. The upside of the "Binder" approach is the amount of Historical context I can include at the time the works were made. The downside is the photos are not the best as they are copies of the originals but are adequate enough to get the concept across. Also, I have left the writing in my own hand which might be a downside, but I left it as is because I liked the personal feel of it. In the end I chose to accept the downsides rather than not doing this at all. Having turned 75 this year prompted me to get moving to record my thoughts in some format and to me, this was the most practical option.
