New Covid Restrictions Impact Business

  • Today Governor Walz announced a new Executive Order that outlines updated guidance that goes into effect this Friday, November 13 at 10 p.m.  
    • Bars, Restaurants:  Stop in-person service at 10:00 p.m.  In addition there are new limits on games such as pool and darts (no bar games that require standing are permitted), and bar/counter service is closed.
    • Wedding Receptions and related events are dialed back to 50 people on November 27 and 25 people after December 11.
    • Private gatherings are limited to 10 people from no more than three households.
    • Overall events currently at 250 capacity will be dialed back to 150.

    • The Governor also proposed $10 million in additional funding for business relief, targeted toward restaurants and bars impacted by today’s changes. Details coming soon.
    • Retail was opened from 50% occupancy to 100%-a bit of good news!

$25M into Downtown Owatonna

A new hotel and apartment complex will bring a major boost to downtown Owatonna.  The projects, both being developed by Hamilton Real Estate, will be built at the same time starting early summer of '21 and will infuse $25M into a 1 block area of Pearl and Cedar. 
Shadowed by the big hotel announcement, the apartment building on Pearl Street completes a several year vision started by the city of Owatonna when they purchased and tore down the houses on that block.  FULL STORY
