Programs and online resources
UMKC - University of Missouri-Kansas City
Dear Student:
Welcome back to a place we’ve never been before.
As we all adapt to this new way of working and living, the process itself has become part of our education – and that applies to faculty and staff as well as students. Yes, this is a serious situation, and we’re all doing what we need to do to protect ourselves and each other from this new disease. But learning to adapt, solve problems and manage the unexpected into positive outcomes is what we all signed up for by becoming part of a university community.
And as a true community, we have each other’s backs. UMKC faculty and staff are absolutely committed to helping our students navigate this new reality. We’ve worked hard over the past few weeks to create new resources and programming, including new ways to access existing resources. We even created some new ways to relax, have fun and explore learning experiences outside the classroom – all designed to keep us safe and healthy, both mentally and physically.
This semester will challenge all of us. It’s a challenge we will face together, and will overcome together. We’re here for you.
The attached document has a full list of opportunities and resources for you to explore. Here are just a few highlights of what you’ll find there:
Virtual Campus Events: The Office of Student Involvement, Campus Recreation, Multicultural Student Affairs and The Women’s Center are developing a series of virtual involvement opportunities for students through the end of the semester. Examples include digital tours of Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art exhibits, “Lunch Doodles” online drawing and writing sessions with Kennedy Center Education Artist-in-Residence Mo Willems and a series of at-home workout videos produced by Campus Recreation.
Help Central: A good first stop for almost any problem or issue you encounter. Not sure who to ask? Start here
Academic Support and Mentoring: Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, Writing Studio and more – the gateway to student success programs.
Financial Aid: Here's where to go.
Above all, remember to take good care of yourselves. If you have additional concerns and needs, please don’t hesitate to email either of us.
All the best,
