It's hatching season in the seabird aviary! Our Seabird Aviary has welcomed two tufted puffin chicks, and a brand new common murre! At just a few weeks old, both chicks are under the care of their puffin parents, while our aviary team monitors their progress every step of the way.
While we're still a few weeks away from when we expect fresh faces to be visible to guests in the seabird aviary, you can keep up to date on social media for the latest news on the newest aviary residents!

Our Senior Ambassador Animal Care Specialist, Devon, with a little help from Chowder, demonstrated how we encourage our animals to participate in their own veterinary care!
Through positive reinforcement training, these voluntary behaviors help reduce stress and make routine health checks a positive experience for both our animals and their care team.

New Whale of an Installation |
Our lobby is now home to two incredible canvas gyotaku banners by artist Duncan Berry. Created using prints from the tail flukes and right pectoral fin of the 4-year-old humpback whale that washed ashore in Neskowin last November, these works of art preserve the story of an incredible animal in a truly unique way.
Guests may recognize Berry's name and artwork from the years that gyotaku decorated the walls of Passages of the Deep entry tunnels. Learn more about the process and history of gyotaku on Berry's site, bylandbyseabyair.com.
