Nolensville falls shy of Little League World Series national championship
Locals will play Taiwan for third place Sunday morning
By Charles Pulliam • Sports Editor
WILLIAMSPORT, Pennsylvania – Earlier this week, the Nolensville Little League baseball team witnessed just how good a group of 12-year-olds from Honolulu, Hawaii, could be when the unbeaten West Region champions bolted to a 13-0 win with five home runs in just four innings.
The local boys from Williamson County were shell-shocked.
“You look at this team that we’re playing and you see something that is pretty invincible,” Nolensville coach Randy Huth said. "I mean, 13-0 in 3 1/2 innings – we had never been beat like that before – but that team is that good.”

Football: Page pushes past Franklin in confidence-builder for both teams
By Joe Williams • Sports Writer
RUDDERVILLE – The scoreboard showed the Page High School football team claiming a 28-17 win Friday night over Franklin.
What it did not show was that for the Admirals, there were pieces of the game where they were winners.
The home-standing and defending Class 5A runners-up were shocked early as Franklin drew first blood when Cooper Jordan torched a 54-yard breakaway run late in the first quarter. The two teams went into the locker room tied at 14 after Brewer Wilson found Mena Mannan on a 46-yard touchdown pass.

Football: MacIntyre, Scott lead Brentwood Academy past CPA
By David Dawson • Sports Writer
BRENTWOOD — Brentwood Academy sophomore quarterback George MacIntyre is only two games into his varsity career, but he already seems to be establishing one notable characteristic: He’s good under pressure.
Whether he’s standing in the pocket or standing up to the challenge of suddenly being a high-profile player, MacIntyre doesn’t appear to get rattled by anything that comes at him.
His poise was on display Friday night when he helped lead the Eagles to a 28-17 victory over Christ Presbyterian Academy in a rare matchup of the tradition-rich programs played before a massive crowd on the BA campus.
