Corrected/Updated: Around this time in 1992, Tom Bair bought WROI (92.1fm, Rochester) from James Zimmerman's Manitou Broadcasting Corporation for $250,000. Mr. Bair recently had WROI airing an AC format, from a street-side studio on Eighth Street in downtown Rochester.
Mr. Bair will sell WROI to Scott Huber's 3 Towers Broadcasting. Mr. Huber owns WSVX (1520am, Shelbyville) and two FM translators: W243CL (96.5fm, Shelbyville) and W292FH (106.3fm, Shelbyville). The sale from Bair to Huber includes the WROI building and transmitter site. No broker on this deal.
On Thursday August 1, 3 Towers took over operations of WROI 3 Towers continues using Local Radio Networks, but they moved WROI from LRN's AC format to their Hot AC format. When the sale closes this year, Tyson Conrady will join 3 Towers ownership.

RadioInsight.com reports that iHeart and Educational Media Foundation will swap 13 translators between the two organizations. Only one of them is in Indiana, and it answers a question: W248AW (97.5fm, Indianapolis) will be swapped to 'EMF', which explains why it has been running an automated loop, letting listeners know that they can find the format Sports format on 1260am (WNDE) or through an HD Radio at WFBQ 94.7fm-HD2. No purchase price yet on this deal, and no announcement on when EMF will begin programming these translators.
In 2013, Emmis Communications added an FM translator to their nearly decade-old Sports format on WFNI (1070am, Indianapolis): W298BB (107.5fm, Indianapolis). In November 2015, Emmis added an additional translator: W228CX (93.5fm, Indianapolis).
In May 2016, Woof Boom Radio's Classic Rock/WMXQ (93.5fm, Hartford City) started receiving complaints that Emmis' 93.5fm translator interfered with the "Max 93.5" signal. Using Great Circle calculation, the two towers sit 54.45 miles apart.
Emmis lowered the 93.5 translator to two watts, and began researching a viable solution. "1070 The Fan" recently came back on the air at 93.5fm with 250 watts and a Directional Antenna (DA) to prevent interference with Hartford City. (FCC Map.)
