Have You Remembered Us in Your Estate Plans?
Did you know that you can make a planned gift to the United Way Foundation of the Capital Region in your will, trust or other estate plans?
Charity is not limited to your lifetime. Most of us give time, talent and money to charitable organizations throughout our lives because we care about our community. We experience the joy that comes from giving and knowing we make a difference. The United Way Foundation of the Capital Region provides donors, like you, a vehicle to create a lasting legacy.
Don’t have a will? You’re not alone! Now is a great time to start planning. A charitable bequest in your will is the simplest way to help us build our Foundation. United Way can provide you with suggested “bequest language” and the Foundation’s tax ID for you to share with your attorney.
A bequest may take on a number of forms, including:
- A specific dollar amount
- A percentage of the estate’s residual value
- A specific asset
“Given the fact that United Way has helped us improve the quality of life in the Capital Region, I encourage everyone to seriously consider a legacy gift to the Foundation,” says Mike Breslin, president of the United Way Foundation of the Capital Region board and legacy gift donor.
“Many of us have volunteered with United Way because we personally believe that this organization makes an impact,” says Breslin. “Don’t let the good work we’ve supported over the years end, but instead let it continue through an enduring partnership - a legacy gift that will last forever.”
