Where Are They Now? Former WANE-TV meteorologist Joe Strus joins the National Weather Service Twin Cities office.
Northcentral
This morning, Federated Media's Country/WBYT (100.7fm, Elkhart) welcomed Dave Cruise as morning co-host, alongside Brittney Baily. Mr. Cruise was born and raised in Chicago, but has worked in Philadelphia radio for several years.
Sinclair's CBS and FOX affiliate/WSBT-TV (Channel 22, South Bend) weekend morning anchor Paige Barnes exits and joins as a reporter for WKRC-TV in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Over at Weigel Broadcasting's ABC affiliate/WBND (Channel 57, South Bend), Gordy Young returns to South Bend area TV screens as news anchor for ‘ABC57’ Saturday and Sunday morning newscasts. In 1994, Mr. Young debuted as the morning meteorologist on WNDU-TV (Channel 16, South Bend) alongside anchor Tricia Sloma.
Speaking of Gray Television's NBC affiliate/WNDU-TV (Channel 16, South Bend), they add several news folks, one of which returned to WNDU-TV.
Joshua Short returned to WNDU and now co-anchors the weekday Noon, 4:00pm and 6:00pm newscasts with Lauren Moss. Melissa Stephens moves from morning reporter to co-anchor the 5:00pm and 11:00pm newscasts with Terry McFadden.
In addition, Carli Luca earned a promotion over the summer to news operations manager and EP of investigative content. Finally, Felicia Michelle joins WNDU as a reporter and weekend morning anchor. George Mallet joins as a reporter and weekend evening anchor.
The Power Foundation sells their Construction Permit for Class A WSSZ (101.7fm, Kokomo) to Educational Media Foundation for $30,000. The Construction permit expires in late 2024.
Where Are They Now? Former WNDU-TV reporter Ibrahim Samra (‘Sammy’) joined WWJ-TV (CBS News Detroit) as a reporter.
Central
Where Are They Now? Former WTTV-TV/WXIN-TV meteorologist Alyssa Andrews is now a meteorologist for WBZ-TV in Boston, Massachusetts.
Westcentral
Allen Media Broadcasting's CBS affiliate/WTHI-TV (Channel 10, Terre Haute) adds Madison Zaleski as reporter and producer. Ms. Zaleski graduated from Carthage College and was most recently a reporter intern at WGNO-TV in New Orleans.
Southwest
Gray Television's NBC affiliate/WFIE-TV (Channel 14) welcomes Emily Erikson as their new News Director. Ms. Erikson last worked for Gray sister station WTOK-TV in Meridian, Mississippi as both an anchor and News Director. Ms. Erikson succeeds the late Joe Schlaerth who died in June.

October 1: In 1954, 90.1fm in Indianapolis signs on as WIAN. Today, it's WFYI. In 1962, 98.9fm in Van Wert, Ohio signs on as WERT-FM. Today, it's WBYR. In 1967, Palladium Printing Co. president Stanley Banyon died. Age 81. Palladium owned WHFB(AM) and WHFB-FM in Benton Harbor, Michigan. In 1971, Fort Wayne's 1380am WKJG and 97.3fm WKJG-FM became Rock/WMEE(AM) and Easy Listening/WMEF-FM. In 1973, Royden Parke died. Age 81. Mr. Parke programmed WKBV (1490am, Richmond). In 1975, 105.5fm in Bedford signs on as WBIF-FM. Today, it's WQRK. In 1994, 100.5fm in Princeton signs on as WSJD, and remains so today. In 1996, Samuel Smulyan died. Age 76. Mr. Smulyan owned WNTS (1590am, Beech Grove) and KCRO(AM) in Omaha, Nebraska. In 2003, WAMW(AM) (1580am, Washington) changed formats from Salem Radio Network's 'Solid Gospel' to their 'Today's Christian Music' format. In 2012, Thy Word Network/Evansville president Don Chagle died. Age 81. In 2013, AC/WAXL (103.3fm, Santa Claus) flips format to Hot AC ('103.3 The Fix')
October 2: In 1937, WHIP (1480am, Hammond) signs on this date. It signs off in 1943. In 1958, 91.1fm in Goshen signs on as WGCS, and remains so today. In 1989, 105.9fm in Marshall, Illinois signs on as WMMC, and remains so today.
October 3: In 2016, 98.3fm in Plainfield flips format from country (WUBG/Big 98.3) to urban (WZRL/Real 98.3).
October 4: In 1970, Channel 20 in Indianapolis signs on as WFYI-TV, and remains so today. In 2001, all Contemporary Media/Terre Haute stations sign off.
October 5: In 1900, Sarkes Tarzian was born. In 1998, WSYW (810am, Indianapolis) flips format from Classical and Talk to Spanish.
October 6: In 1967, 105.5fm in Valparaiso signs on as WAKE-FM. Today, it's WLJE.
October 7: In 1963, 1550am in Sullivan signs on as WKQV. Today, it's WNDI. In 2000, former then-WLCL (107.1fm, Lowell) Owner and GM William Joseph Dunn died. Age 75.
