Mentoring Postdocs Orientation
Portland State faculty members are not able to hire postdoctoral scholars. To hire a postdoc, faculty members must attend a required mentor training session. In partnership with EXITO Scholars, Research & Graduate Studies is offering two mentor training sessions in the coming month. These training sessions are an excellent opportunity to meet colleagues hiring postdocs and hear tips from those who have been involved in mentoring relationships through EXITO.
The workshops will cover:
- Establishing and aligning expectations for mentoring relationships
- Assessing understanding
- Promoting professional development
The training sessions will be held on
Friday, February 22, from 1-4 p.m. and
Thursday, February 28, from 2-5 p.m. in the Richard and Maurine Neuberger Center (formerly the Market Center Building), Room 316 (third floor, 1600 SW Fourth Ave. Portland OR 97201. If you'd like to attend, please RSVP by following the links above.
Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs Funding Opportunities Webinars
The Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) invites the research community to view a webinar series on funding opportunities in both research and career development. The first of these webinars “Funding Opportunities and Strategies for Success”, participants will learn how to find the latest CDMRP funding opportunities, how to navigate a program announcement (funding opportunity announcement), and use what they learn to create a competitive application. Over the next four months, webinars covering topics from innovative research applications to clinical research will be published.
Detailed descriptions of funding opportunities, evaluation criteria, and submission requirements can be found in the specific Program Announcements. The Program Announcements are available electronically for downloading from the Grants.gov website (http://www.grants.gov), the CDMRP website (https://cdmrp.army.mil/funding/prgdefault.shtml) and the electronic Biomedical Research Application Portal (eBRAP) (https://eBRAP.org).
