Bruce Whiteman is a Canadian poet and writer, as well as a well-known reviewer and cultural historian. His selected poems appeared in 1995, and his long poem, The Invisible World Is in Decline, has been appearing since 1984. Signed copies of Book VII, Intimate Letters, published in the fall of 2014, are available for purchase at the event for a reduced price of $15 (cash or check only).  

The author is reading from the full range of his work, in order to give listeners a sense of what he does as a poet, both in the long poem form and in his more lyrical poetry. The emphasis is on poems from Intimate Letters and a manuscript entitled “Tablature,” scheduled for publication in the spring of 2015. He is reading a few translations (from French) and concluding with one or two new and still unpublished poems from a book to be called The Sad Mechanic Exercise.
