Leadership Reorganization in Academic Affairs
Dear UNCG Faculty and Staff,
Following the recent departure of former Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Undergraduate Studies Dean Andrew Hamilton, the Division of Academic Affairs is pleased to announce a leadership reorganization designed to enhance support for our faculty, staff, and students, while also clarifying roles, streamlining operations, and helping all members of the University community more easily connect with the people and resources they need.
Dr. Randy Penfield will continue as senior vice provost, with ongoing leadership in faculty affairs, academic budgeting, and strategic planning across Academic Affairs. He will also assume oversight of academic policy and faculty development initiatives, including the supervision of the director of the University Teaching and Learning Commons (UTLC).
Regina McCoy, previously associate vice provost for student success, has been promoted to vice provost for student success. She will continue to lead the Division of Student Success, with expanded focus on retention, academic progress, and student well-being. She will now oversee all academic student appeals, serve on the Behavioral Assessment Team, and supervise the Middle College liaison. She will collaborate across Academic Affairs, Faculty Senate, Student Affairs, and Enrollment Management to develop student-centered policies and initiatives that improve time-to-degree and streamline academic operations.
Dr. Jodi Pettazzoni, previously associate vice provost for academic programming and accreditation, has been promoted to vice provost for academic programming and accreditation. She will continue to guide academic strategy and institutional accreditation, with additional responsibilities related to curriculum oversight now under her purview. She will oversee academic programming, our general education program, instructional modality, academic program review, program accreditation processes, and compliance processes.
These transitions reflect our continued commitment to academic excellence and student achievement. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Penfield, Vice Provost McCoy, and Vice Provost Pettazzoni on their new and expanded roles.
