Keep Cannabis Stores Away From Schools
On October 2017, the Chair wrote a letter to the Mayor of Toronto and the Premier of Ontario requesting that Toronto District School Board staff or trustees be consulted regarding the regulation and locations of retail or other dispensaries of medicinal marijuana dispensaries. Since then, the new Government of Ontario announced that cannabis stores could open within 150 meters of a school, but did not mention the importance of consulting with school boards on locations.

The Board decided the Chair write to the Minister of Education and the Mayor of Toronto to request that all school boards in the province be consulted on the location of cannabis stores and new municipal bylaws required regarding the locations of cannabis stores.
