"Grill-In" Spring 2023 Welcome Back Icebreaker

Happy New Year! The Dr. Robert A. Savoie College of Engineering (RASCOE) “grilled in” the Spring 2023 semester with a Welcome Back Ice Breaker on January 23rd, the first day of classes. Students enjoyed burgers grilled by alumnus and ME staff member Taylor Weidman.

| Luncheon Held for Dean's Student Leadership Board
|
In efforts to support our Engineering Student Societies, Dean Lizette Chevalier has created a Dean’s Student Leadership Board comprised of the presidents/chairs and vice presidents of each student engineering society.
At the luncheon, student society leaders were given the opportunity to discuss areas for collaboration with each other and with the college. Leaders also provided updates on their current agenda and upcoming events.

RASCOE Hosts MathCounts Competition
|
On February 4, the Savoie College of Engineering hosted the New Orleans Chapter MathCounts Competition, sponsored by the Louisiana Engineering Society.

Each level of competition is comprised of four rounds—Sprint, Target, Team and Countdown Round. Math questions are solved individually or with their team, with and without calculators, dependent on the round.
The Competition Series has four levels of competition—school, chapter, state and national. The Louisiana State Competition will be held March 24 in Pineville.

The Center for Equity & Diversity in Engineering (CEDE) hosted a "What I Love About Engineering" event on February 13. Students shared their passion for engineering and enjoyed some Valentine's Day sweets and treats.

Krewe of Student Privateer Engineers joined the Krewe of UNO Parade with Mini Baja
|
On February 14, engineering students took to the campus streets to parade in the Krewe of UNO: Love on the Lakefront parade. Students were escorted by the Mini Baja Club and had a great time showing off their ride!
