Startup & Stand Out | July 8 - 24, 2024 | Virtual |
Startup and Standout is a two-week long online/virtual celebration of entrepreneurship and innovation. Through entrepreneurship panels, workshops, and our Startup & Standout Solution Slam Pitch Competition (for $10,000 cash), AU students learn from, interact with, and become confident, impactful entrepreneurs. The program is designed to promote creativity, critical thinking, and perseverance, and to encourage risk-taking and problem-solving.
| |
Through the Startup & Standout Solution Slam Pitch Competition, students work in teams of three to four to identify a pressing social problem and create a solution to benefit society.
Students will develop their new idea into a two-minute video pitch for a new product or service designed to make meaningful change and will submit their videos online. Judges from the AU Community will select the finalists and the top three finishers will share $10,000 in prize money! Register by July 5, 2024.

Please note that housing and dining charges and financial aid will be added later in the summer, and the fall payment is due on August 1.

Tambra Raye Stevenson, SOC/MA ’22, wants to help her community take back the kitchen. Thanks to Black women leaders in agriculture, nutrition, and dietetics—or “food sheroes,” as she calls them—the slow bake of cultural change has already begun. Stevenson, a doctoral student in AU’s School of Communication, has dedicated the last 20 years to advancing food justice.
