Trader Joe's to open at Eddy Street Commons 

If a craving for Trader Joe's Mandarin Orange Chicken has led you to take a road trip to Chicago or Kalamazoo, your drive will soon be shorter. Trader Joe's is coming to Eddy Street Commons, just a half-mile south of Notre Dame. (More...)

Demolition begins today on the former Robinson Community Learning Center building. RCLC operated from its original location at Eddy and Howard streets for nearly 20 years. (More...)

New path along Indiana 933 improves safety and mobility

A new recreational pathway along Indiana 933 between Angela Boulevard and Douglas Road  is open. The mile-long asphalt path, just east of Saint Mary's College and Holy Cross College and west of Notre Dame, offers a safe alternative to the existing sidewalks on 933, which hug the curb and collect snow and ice in the winter from passing plow trucks. A sustainable solution found for burnt-out Grotto candles 

On her first day at work for the Office of Sustainability, Caitlin Jacobs received an email from Brother Patrick Lynch, C.S.C., assistant superior of the Corby community. “Our Grotto candle glass containers are not being recycled because we are told they contain wax,” he wrote. “I was wondering if you can offer any advice on the matter.” She got right on it. Sustainability 

New recycling program piloted at residence halls

The Office of Sustainability has launched a pilot recycling program in residence halls which will inform how to structure a wider scale program for campus. Under the new plan, the University will become an active participant in recycling, able to trace and measure where recyclables go when they leave campus and that they are, in fact, recycled. This aligns with Notre Dame's Catholic mission to care for the common good and the environment. (More...)

Grant awarded to improve mental health in the Asian community 

University Counseling Center Psychologist Weiyang Xie and three collaborators were awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant for $432,000. The national grant will give them the opportunity to help the Asian community in the U.S. as well as students of Asian descent at Notre Dame. (More...)

Professor expands literacy education research at ND

What does hip-hop music and long-dead poets have in common? Plenty, when you have a bridge to learning. Ernest Morrell, professor of Africana studies and English, the Coyle Professor in Literacy Education and director of the Center for Literacy Education started teaching old things in new ways. Bringing pop culture into the classroom and "translanguaging" are just two interests pursued by this innovative educator. (More...)

University Testing Center moves to Joyce

The University has consolidated testing locations. The new University Testing Center is located in the North Dome of the Joyce Center. Drive-up testing is available north of the Joyce. (More...)
