| UNO Students Excavated American Crash Site in Germany |

This past summer, UNO once again partnered with the U.S. Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, the University of Innsbruck and the National WWII Museum in New Orleans to continue to search for missing American crew from World War II in Central Europe. UNO students, under the direction of anthropology professor Ryan Gray, helped excavate the site of an American bomber crash north of Berlin, Germany.

After obtaining “three-fourths of a degree” in computer science in his early 20s, Brian Beabout knew he wanted to switch career paths.
“I decided that I needed to work with humans instead of machines,” he said. “I was much more drawn to the way teachers can change the trajectory of a student’s life.”

| Alumnus Jericho Brown Wins MacArthur Foundation ‘Genius Grant’ |
University of New Orleans alumnus Jericho Brown has been named a 2024 MacArthur Fellow and will receive one of the so-called “genius grants” from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Brown is one of 22 fellows in this year’s class. Fellows receive $800,000 stipends that are bestowed with no conditions; recipients may use the money as they see fit.

Two English Instructors Publish Vampire Book |
Drs. Robin Werner and Elizabeth Lewis, recently published their anthology "Vampire Literature" with Broadview Press. This is the first anthology designed specifically to introduce students and general readers to the history, theory and cultural impact of the literary vampire.

| Stich Gave Distinguished Lecture on 'Intermodal Miracles and Maladies' |
Bethany Stich, Ph.D., director of the Transportation Institute at the University of New Orleans, recently gave the Dan Flowers Distinguished Lecture at University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Her lecture was titled "Intermodal Miracles and Maladies."
