Researchers in the Ivan Allen College think big to explore questions of sustainability on Earth, in outer space, and on a cosmic scale.

Mock Trial Coach Named Interim Co-Director of Law, Science, and Technology

School of Public Policy alumnus and lecturer Andy McNeil, PubPol 2001, has been named interim co-director of the Law, Science, and Technology program. He will work with Chad Slieper, who has been selected to co-lead Georgia Tech’s next Quality Enhancement Plan and will continue on at LST as co-director.

Bullinger to Join APPAM Policy-Setting Council

The APPAM Policy Council sets the organization’s policy and strategy. Lindsey Rose Bullinger, an assistant professor in the School of Public Policy, was elected as an academic researcher.

Integrating Art/Literature, Science, and Public Policy Public Lecture and Faculty Workshop

How can humanists successfully compete for NIH funding? What roles can the humanities play in the public sphere? On Feb. 5, Jay Clayton, a professor at Vanderbilt University, will outline answers that have worked at his institution and other universities.

A recent article by Todd Michney (History and Sociology) on “How the City Survey’s Redlining Maps Were Made: A Closer Look at HOLC’s Mortgagee Rehabilitation Division,” which uses previously unknown archival materials to explain how and why the now-notorious redlining maps were made, recently received the award for best article published in the Journal of Planning History between 2021 and 2023. The award is given by the Society for American City and Regional Planning History.

A book chapter by Britta Kallin (Modern Languages) about Austrian Nobel Laureate Elfriede Jelinek's texts and ideas on gender and violence was recently published. Kallin's chapter is the outcome of her invited participation in a research project organized by the Elfriede Jelinek Research Network.

Helen Anne Curry (History and Sociology) recently published the article "La Diversidad de Cultivos: Repensar la Narrativa de la Extinción" in Mexican news magazine La Jornada del Campo.
