Mental Health Tips for a Healthier, Happier Summer
1. Unplug to Recharge
Yep, I’m talking about phones. Too much screen time can zap your energy and mood. Try a “tech-free hour” each day—read, color, walk, do a puzzle, or do absolutely nothing. Your mind will thank you.
2. Protect Your Peace
Not all summer invites or group chats need a “yes.” It's OK to say no sometimes if you're drained or just not into it. Forget the FOMO. Boundaries are self-care.
3. Keep a Loosely Fun Routine
Late nights are fun—but your brain loves structure. Try a flexible routine with goals like "wake up before 10," "move my body," or "spend time in the sunshine."
4. Move Your Body, Change Your Mood
No, you don’t have to run a marathon. Take your dog for a walk, swim, bike, hike, or just stretch. Movement = mood booster.
5. Don’t Isolate
Even if you're introverted, some connection matters. Snap, text or FaceTime a friend, go to your neighborhood pool or check out a local summer event.
6. Consider Therapy
If you’ve been thinking about it, summer is a great time to make time to talk to a professional about your mental health. If the idea of individual therapy doesn’t appeal to you, maybe try group therapy. There are tons of options out there. If you need recommendations, let me know!
