Our spring open house is next week - march 15

All families with younger siblings (5th-7th grade), their friends, and neighbors are invited to join us on March 15 from 5:00-7:30 p.m. for our Spring Open House.
Join Brebeuf Jesuit President Fr. Jack Dennis, S.J., and meet our fantastic faculty to learn more about the rigorous college preparatory curriculum offerings at Brebeuf. Curious parents and families can take a tour with a current Brebeuf student to discover the numerous clubs and organizations that Brebeuf has to offer - this includes information about Brebeuf Jesuit's summer camp program, Prep@Brebeuf!
Families can register by clicking here.
Parent Volunteeers Needed

If you are available and willing to help, please contact Liz Otteson at lotteson@brebeuf.org or Amber Lamkin at alamkin@brebeuf.org.
Volunteer shifts are available from 4:30-6:00 p.m. and/or 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Loves About Brebeuf
The thing I love the most about Brebeuf is the freedom that is given and the responsibility that comes along with that. Although Brebeuf courses are for the most part challenging and require a lot of work, the long breaks have provided me the opportunity to do my homework, meet with teachers, and socialize with friends. As a result, I feel this has prepared me very well for college in terms of time management and setting priorities by teaching me how to properly balance my school work and my social life.
Favorite Class
AP European History with Mr. Spotts and Health with Mr. Haynes were my two favorite classes at Brebeuf. Despite AP Euro being a rigorous course, Mr. Spotts made every class a blast through the relationships he creates with students and his desire to watch his students succeed. In addition, I found health class very intriguing, and it has inspired me to pursue a career in a health-related field.
Future Plans
Next year I will be attending Indiana University Bloomington to study pre-med and nutrition in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Teams & Co-Curriculars
Varsity Cross Country and Track Team
Student Athletic Leadership Team Member
National Honors Society
Black Robe Running Club
Boy Scouts
Joseph Maley Foundation Junior Board Member
Random Facts
I work at a dog kennel.
I had a short-lived acting and singing career, having a lead role in my 8th grade musical “Oklahoma.”
I only applied to one college, resulting in a stress-free college application process.
What has been your favorite Brebeuf experience or most memorable moment so far?
My favorite Brebeuf experience so far has been going on Kairos retreat twice, both as a retreatant and leader. This retreat has truly transformed my Brebeuf experience by allowing me to see life through others’ perspective, as well as creating lasting friendships. Kairos, along with all the other retreats offered, are truly unique and make the Brebeuf experience unlike that of any other high school.
This is the first issue of InDepth that will go out to the Class of 2021 families.  What advice would you give our soon-to-be Braves?
The number one piece of advice I can give any Brave is to take advantage of all the amazing opportunities and resources Brebeuf has to offer, both in terms of academics and extracurriculars. All teachers at Brebeuf are truly there for you, and it is crucial to go meet with them on your breaks and PRTs to receive help. In addition, participate in the various extracurricular activities Brebeuf offers, such as varsity sports, clubs, intramural basketball, retreats, service trips, performing arts, and many more. Expanding your horizons and going out of your comfort zone will make your Brebeuf experience the best it could possibly be.

Junior Conor Broderick, Catherine Saunders, Tanner Waltz, and Catherine Woodhouse were recently named 2017 Rising Stars of Indiana by the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP).  Each Indiana high school was invited to recognize up to four students currently in the 11th grade, based on their academic achievement.

Support Ms. Manton and her Daughter Hannah's Stuffed Animal Drive

It started as a simple gesture. Ms. Iris Manton's daughter, Hannah, donated some of her gently used stuffed animals to Officer Wooten.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers keep stuffed animals in their vehicles to give to children who have been involved in a traumatic situation to provide comfort and security for these children.
After hearing that Officer Wooten went through the stuffed animals in a matter of weeks, Ms. Manton and her daughter teamed up to collect clean, gently used or new stuffed animals.  Last year, between Hannah’s after-school program and the students in Ms. Mantons' classes, more than 650 stuffed animals were collected.
The success of the drive and outpouring of support from the Brebeuf Jesuit community has lead to Ms. Manton and Hannah once again collecting stuffed animals this year!
Families interested in donating can bring their clean, gently used, or new stuffed animals to Ms. Manton in Room 124 or the Math Office.

The Canned Food Drive Launches This Week

Brebeuf Jesuit is once again holding a canned food drive, from Friday, March 10 through Tuesday, March 28.
Last spring, the Brebeuf Jesuit community participated in this meaningful drive supporting St. Vincent de Paul’s food pantry, donating enough cans of food to fill two semi-trucks! In addition, cash donations from our school community were able to buy nearly 30,000 pounds of food. To maximize our school’s impact, this year’s goal is for every student and staff member to collect 20 cans each.
Classes Will be Competing
In a change from last year, each grade will be competing as a whole to see what grade can bring in the most cans, instead of being grouped by homeroom. Collections will be occur every Tuesday morning before school in the Gym Lobby. Students will find representatives from their class with whom they can turn in their cans and have them counted towards their class total.
St. Vincent de Paul feeds roughly 3,300 families every week, or roughly 12,000 individuals, many of whom are children and the elderly. Every can is helpful!
How to Help
To contribute to the drive, send canned food items to Brebeuf Jesuit with a Brebeuf student, who will deliver the items to their class collection.
To contribute monetarily, please make checks payable to St. Vincent de Paul with "Food Pantry" in the memo line and bring those donations of support to the front lobby desk at Brebeuf Jesuit.
Collections will be from 7:50-8:15 a.m. on Tuesday March 14, 21, and 28 in the Gym Lobby.
By coming together during this food drive, the Brebeuf Jesuit community can make an incredible difference in the lives of thousands in need here in Indianapolis!

Dads Club Participation Survey

Calling all Brebeuf Dads! In an effort to better understand why current Brebeuf dads don’t participate in the Club’s monthly meetings and annual events, please take a minute to fill out the below survey.
The Brebeuf Dads Club exists to create an opportunity for Dads to get involved at their child’s school on what we like to call a “low commitment, high-impact” basis. ALL Dads are members, and ALL Dads are invited to participate. Help us learn where you want to be involved, what meeting times and locations work best for you, and how to make the Dads Club more accessible to a wider range of current dads. Thank you for your input!
