Congratulations to our students who are joining us at American University this Fall! We are thrilled to welcome our New Eagles and the families to our home here in D.C.
Â
Throughout the summer and into the first weeks of the fall semester, we'll be reaching out to you with this special email for our newest Eagle Families. In it you'll find key reminders, invitations to join us for online events and introductions to some of the services and opportunities to support your student. You can find this letter and all future Orientation Weekly newsletters on our website. Later this summer, you'll also start to receive the Family Update newsletter that we share with the families of our current students.Â
Your student should be checking their AU email account regularly at this point. They'll find information about preparing for class registration and a welcome letter from their First Year Advisor (FYA).Â

Greetings, Eagle Families!
Very soon, your student will spread their wings and embark on their journey at American University! The Division of Student Affairs is bursting with excitement as we eagerly anticipate their arrival this August. We're hard at work preparing to ensure they have the best experience possible.
It is my privilege to help them blossom into their best selves, foster a community of respect and support, and enhance their educational journey beyond the classroom.
American University is a hub of endless opportunities, and we're committed to helping your student seize every moment.Together, we'll learn, explore, and strive to make a positive impact on our community and around the world.
We're deeply grateful to have you as partners in this journey. We're here to support both you and your student every step of the way over the coming years.
Thank you for entrusting us with your student's education and growth. We can't wait to see all the amazing things they'll accomplish!

Planning what to pack? Housing & Residence Life has you covered. We've posted an overview of what to bring, and what not to bring to the halls. We’re already getting lots of questions about sheets! American University mattresses are twin-sized mattresses that measure 80 inches in length. A very limited number of extra-long twins are available for those with demonstrated need. Our twin XL mattresses measure 84 inches long. Consider that you can always fold longer or larger sheets over mattrress toppers. Find packing lists, floor plans, furniture measurements, loft options, fridge/microwave rentals, virtual room tours, and more on the Housing & Residence Life website.

Payment for the fall semester is due August 1. Your student must register for classes to generate a bill, which will be posted to the student’s Eagle Service Account. In order for families and other sponsors to view or pay the bill, your student must grant you proxy access. You’ll find a simple list of tuition and fees, instructions on how to view an itemized version of the student bill and payment options on the Student Accounts website.
