Dear Faculty, Administrators and Staff,
|
Each year, we showcase the remarkable contributions of our faculty members at the Celebration of Faculty Excellence. It is a momentous occasion where we come together to honor and recognize the outstanding achievements of our faculty. The event has grown over the years, as we continue to expand the awards to highlight excellence in various categories, including longstanding acknowledgments such as the Researcher of the Year and Teacher of the Year and the second annual Service-Learning Award. This year, we are introducing new awards for Excellence in Assessment, reflecting our commitment to recognizing achievement across diverse academic domains.
|
For many of these award categories, each school proudly selects its winners, and we will eagerly anticipate the reveal of the university-wide winners during the event. Please save the date for this special celebration:

Professor Gabriella Romani Translates Historic Spiritual Story from Italian
Lost Bread: A Novel (Paul Dry Books), originally written in Italian, was translated in 2023 by Professor Gabriella Romani of the Department of Languages Literatures and Cultures (with David Yanoff). The powerful novel, written by author and Holocaust survivor Edith Bruck, is based on Bruck's survival story as a young Jewish girl during WW II. Set in Hungary, the book tells the story of 12-year-old Ditke, who in 1944 are removed from their home and sent to multiple concentration camps. Bruck and her character overcame the tragic loss of their families, and decades later, Pope Francis personally thanked Bruck for telling the true and horrifying stories of those lost to the Holocaust. Professor Romani's new translation importantly expands the audience of this story of faith and hope to a larger Western audience.
