Welcome to your very first edition of The Navigator, the official e-newsletter for first-year students at Tulane!
We encourage you to get in the habit of checking your Tulane email regularly, as you'll receive a new edition of The Navigator often, beginning this summer and continuing throughout your entire first year. The Navigator is designed to support your transition to Tulane by connecting you with campus resources, informing you of upcoming events and opportunities, and offering advice for a successful first-year experience.
We’re so happy you chose Tulane and can’t wait to welcome you to campus!

We consider your orientation a year-long experience that begins before you arrive on campus. As you prepare to join the Tulane community, we have planned a series of intentional steps to ensure a smooth transition to campus.

Your summer modules will introduce you to the offices and people you'll come to rely on, teach you about the campus and city you will soon (or already!) call home, and prepare you to be an engaged member of our community. With a new theme each month, these mandatory modules will ease your transition to Tulane. Consider these your first homework assignments as a Tulane student!
Check your Tulane inbox today, as you should receive an invitation from Canvas to join the modules! Canvas is Tulane's learning management system and the online center of your academic work. If you are unable to locate the invitation, be sure to check your other inboxes or simply log into Canvas with your Tulane email and password. The Summer 2025 New Student Modules can be found on your Canvas Dashboard.

On the first of each month leading up to your arrival, a new module will become available. You will then have the entire month to progress through the module at your own pace. By completing these modules, you will feel more prepared, confident, and connected as you begin your academic journey at Tulane!

The first module you'll complete, titled Make Way for Exploration, begins with an introduction to your academic home, Newcomb-Tulane College, and the Core Curriculum. From the First-Year Seminar to Service Learning, you will explore just a few of the Core Curriculum components designed to foster a spirit of intellectual curiosity and creativity.
This module will continue with an overview of various campus resources here to support your academic success, including College Advising, the Academic Learning & Tutoring Center, the Goldman Center for Student Accessibility, and Academic Integrity.
Please complete this module by Saturday, May 31.

The Newcomb-Tulane College Advising team is here to support your academic, career, and personal success through a holistic approach to advising. Throughout your first year at Tulane, you'll be guided by our First-Year Advising team. You’ll be assigned an individual academic advisor by early June. In the meantime, general questions can be sent to advising@tulane.edu.
You’ll schedule your academic advising and course registration meeting at the end of May. Many of your questions will be addressed as you work through the May module, read College Advising emails, and complete the checklist items provided.
For more details, visit the Incoming Student advising page!

To support your transition to campus, we've created a "TU Do" list of important tasks to complete throughout the summer. We highly encourage you to review the checklist at the start of each month for a reminder of upcoming tasks and deadlines.
|
Below are just a few of the action items to complete in May:
|
|
|
Curious who else from your area is headed to Tulane this year? Well, wonder no more by attending a Hello Wave reception for incoming students and families! These in-person events allow you to connect in your hometown with past, current, and future Tulanians before heading to campus.
Many events include Tulane representatives from Newcomb-Tulane College, Student Affairs, and Alumni Relations who will be available to answer your questions as you get ready to join the Tulane family. When possible, current Tulane student leaders attend as well to answer your student life questions and more (they're certainly the experts on all things Tulane!).
|
| |
|
Hello Wave receptions will take place from mid-June through early August. Check out the complete list and register for a Hello Wave event near you below. More events will be added throughout the summer, so check back later if you don’t see one in your area. We hope to see you there!
