Franklin grinds past Spartans in all-county showdown behind fourth-quarter scoring drive

The correct pieces have been there for the Franklin High School football team, but they haven’t aligned just right until Friday night.
The Admirals stacked together a gritty 16-play, 82-yard fourth-quarter scoring drive behind a hard-nosed rushing attack and sprinkled with some newly established passing game behind quarterback Connor Beavon to claim a 27-20 win at Summit, the defending Class 5A runners-up and No. 2 team in the state in their classification.

Granzow scores 7 TDs, leads Brentwood to dominating win over Henry County

In a game full of impressive performances Brentwood High School senior quarterback Cade Granzow accounted for 70% of his team’s yardage and was responsible for seven touchdowns as the Bruins blistered former region rival Henry County 55-17 at James C. Parker Field Friday night.
Granzow hit 21-of-27 attempts for 339 yards and six passing touchdowns and rushed for another. During a six-minute stretch of the third quarter – when the Bruins blew the game open – Granzow threw four touchdown balls in just seven total plays.

Pulaski Academy's late stand stops Ravenwood

As expected, Friday’s game between Ravenwood and Pulaski Academy of Arkansas featured a mountain of big plays and big numbers.
Ironically, though, it was three consecutive plays in which no yards were gained that ultimately made the difference in Pulaski Academy’s 37-29 road victory over the Raptors.

CPA dispatches Ensworth; BGA, GCA drop contests

NASHVILLE – The Christ Presbyterian Academy football team stayed unbeaten with a big non conference win against visiting Ensworth Friday night.
The Lions avenged a 42-10 setback last season against the Tigers with a 28-6 victory Friday at CPA behind a strong running game and a tough defensive performance.

Centennial scores first win against Siegel

FRANKLIN – The Centennial High School football team broke through for their first win of the season Friday, taking down Siegel 24-7 at home in Franklin.
The Cougars offense out-gained the Stars 337-147 and helped offset three turnovers by the home team. Quarterbacks Brendan Jones and Cannon Plowman both threw for a touchdown, while Plowman also had a receiving touchdown.

Brentwood Day of Thanks raises over $7K for first responders

When Katie Winstead, a resident of Brentwood and owner of A Perfect Bite, posted on Nextdoor trying to find out if anyone would like to help her arrange a “Day of Thanks” for the Brentwood Fire and Rescue and Police departments on Friday, she never imagined getting the overwhelming response she received from the community.
Within minutes, dozens of Brentwood residents offered to help purchase items or donate money. A total of 132 people donated to make the day possible, with donations still rolling in, raising over $7,000.

Nolensville girls inspire children’s book about safe adventures in a pandemic

Moms and dads have plenty to read about the COVID-19 pandemic with the news these days, but what about the kids?
One woman was inspired by the ways her granddaughter and her three friends in Nolensville found ways to play together while keeping themselves safe — so inspired that she wrote a book based on their socially distanced adventures.

Sheriff's deputies help stop possible suicide attempts at Natchez Trace Bridge

Williamson County Sheriff’s Office deputies are being praised for helping two young people who were reportedly about to jump from the Natchez Trace Bridge in two separate instances on Sept. 7 and 11.
According to the sheriff’s office, on Monday afternoon, Sept. 7, Deputy Houston Bagsby was on routine patrol when he stopped to check on a man who was walking slowly on the bridge.

Brentwood first responders memorialize 9/11 victims with a 1.6-mile run

Brentwood firefighters and police officers remembered those who lost their lives on 9/11 in a special way this year.
On Friday at 7 a.m., firemen and police officers ran 1.6 miles in remembrance of the first responders who died trying to save others on that fateful day.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020 at Franklin Community of Faith Church of the Nazarene, Pastors Ronnie Johnson, Raymond Johnson, Al Cole and Delbert Ragsdale officiating. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. at the church and also from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2020.
