A MESSAGE TO THE UC MERCED COMMUNITY

Dear Colleagues,
Earlier today, several divisions across campus implemented organizational changes that impacted a limited number of positions. We recognize that these decisions affect valued members of our community and are committed to providing support and resources to assist them through this transition.
These actions come at a time when colleges and universities across the state and nation are navigating significant uncertainty. Changes in public policy, evolving funding landscapes, and broader economic pressures are prompting institutions in higher education, as well as organizations throughout the public and private sectors, to continuously evaluate how they are structured and how they can best and most efficiently deploy resources in support of their missions.
As a still growing and maturing university, UC Merced must also assess how we organize our work to most effectively serve our students, support our faculty's teaching and research, and meet the needs of our campus community. Over the past several months, the campus leadership team has worked closely to evaluate organizational needs and ensure that our divisions are positioned to meet both current priorities and future opportunities. The changes implemented reflect careful analysis and consideration and are intended to strengthen and ultimately safeguard our ability to deliver on our mission of world-class education, accessible excellence, groundbreaking research, and service to our communities.
We are grateful for your continued commitment to UC Merced, to our students, and to one another. As we move forward together, we remain focused on the opportunities ahead and on advancing the mission that unites us and will ensure UC Merced’s bright future.
Sincerely,
|
