Indiana RadioWatch
Serving Hoosier Broadcasters Since 1998
31 October 2019
|
Good Evening,
Before we jump into the latest news, we're going to break format for this story:
Earlier today, a Louisville area FM tower went down. The tower near Indiana 111 in Elizabeth, Indiana (west of Louisville) held antennas for three broadcasters:
Summit Media's Classic Hits/WSFR (Corydon), which already returned to the air from their auxiliary site, just off I-71 in Louisville.
As of this writing, it's our understanding that both Alpha Media's Urban/WGZB (96.5fm, Lanesville) and Way Media's Contemporary Christian/WAYK (105.9fm, Valley Station, Kentucky) remain silent.
The Indiana Broadcasters Association held their annual conference last Thursday in Carmel. Congratulations to all of the winners, including stations of the year: Federated Media CHR/WMEE (97.3fm, Fort Wayne), Hoosier AM/FM AC/WZWZ (92.5fm, Kokomo), Nexstar CBS affiliate/WTTV-TV (Channel 4, Bloomington), and Quincy Media NBC affiliate/WPTA-TV (Channel 21.2, Fort Wayne). Here's a complete list of the winners and audio/video.
From the Reading Pile: As Local News Outlets Shutter, Rural America Suffers Most.

Also, Jack Keenan now co-anchors early mornings alongside Julian Teekaram ("Fort Wayne's NBC Today"). Mr. Keenan last co-anchored early mornings (and was a reporter) for Quincy's sister station KTTC-TV in Rochester, Minnesota.
Heartland Media's FOX affiliate/WFFT-TV (Channel 55, Fort Wayne) welcomes Chris Mullooly as weekend anchor and weekday reporter. Mr. Mullooly last worked in Beaumont, Texas for KFDM (CBS) and KBTV-TV (FOX).
Northcentral
Sound Management's CHR/WNDV-FM (92.9fm, South Bend) celebrated 40 years in format ("U93") by bringing back several DJs last Friday:
Jim Dorgan and Maureen McFadden started off the day, followed by Steve Delaney who entertained listeners until Noon. Mark Rollings stepped in for a few hours during the work day, while JK Dearing took Michiana listeners home, and David Jewell finished off the tribute with an early evening airshift.
Across town, Mid-West Family Broadcasting promotes Director of Programming Bill Gamble to GM for their South Bend cluster:
Hot AC/WNSN (101.5fm, South Bend)
Classic Rock/WZOC (94.3fm, Plymouth)
CHR/WQLQ (99.9fm, Benton Harbor, Michigan)

Mr. Hartman remains News Director. Bill Gant moves to afternoons on WILO and Melissa Miller returns to nights.
