Student research highlighted at College Celebration of Student Scholarship |
At the college's Celebration of Student Scholarship, 57 undergraduate and graduate students presented their research on topics, spaning the vital conditions of health, wide-ranging populations, and exciting applications of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and virtual reality. The Lipedema Foundation’s 2025 Research Funding Program supports projects that advance understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of lipedema and related fat disorders. Investigators from a range of disciplines—including but not limited to basic science, clinical research, and translational studies—are encouraged to apply. May be of particular interest to researchers in obesity and metabolism, adipose tissue biology, women’s health, pain and inflammation, vascular and lymphatic disorders, genetics, rehabilitation sciences, and health disparities. NSF seeks to foster a network of S-STEM stakeholders and further develop the infrastructure needed to generate and disseminate new knowledge, successful practices and effective design principles arising from NSF S-STEM projects nationwide. To support collaboration within the S-STEM network, NSF will fund several S-STEM Research Hubs (S-STEM-Hub). GMU Internal Application Deadline: May 22.
REACH. Cycle 3 Pre-application submissions. The Mid-South REACH (Research Evaluation and Commercialization Hub) program is a NIH-funded program that extends across Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Virginia. The primary goal is to accelerate the real-world impact of biomedical and health related innovations through education, mentorship, and financial support for aspiring entrepreneurs. The Mid-South REACH program is not a traditional grant program. It is focused on product development and requires milestone-based project management in six-month increments, renewable up to four times. Pre-applications will be due May 9 by 5 pm ET. Blackboard access ends July 15. Not all courses were migrated from Canvas to Blackboard. Review your migrated courses by logging into canvas.gmu.edu. All spring 2025 courses will be migrated. To request additional migrations for courses taught from spring 2021 to Fall 2024, complete this form by May 6.

Spring 2025 final results |
The final tally of steps for the spring semester reveals HAP retaining its fall title as the unit with the most steps! Congratulations, HAP!
Nutrition and Food Studies came in second, and honorable mention goes to the School of Nursing, which showed the most dramatic steps increase from last semester. Perhaps a unit to watch in the fall.
The individual with the most steps for the semester is Kathleen Chang, who logged 1,176,424 steps, just nudging out Gilbert Gimm with1,145,608. T Rebmann was the top stepper of the final week. All walkers together, over the entire semester, recorded over 20 million steps (20,274,762).
Congratulations to all winners and all walkers.
The Steps Challenge will be on vacation for the summer months.
