A Word from Mr. Martin

Dear Parents,
This week we will be seeing that our seniors have an experience that essentially culminates 13 years of preparation through a quality Christian education to be immersed in the Senior Mission Trip. For the past 20 years, our seniors have visited Ensenada, Mexico. Due to a change in the offerings by the missions facilitator, Azusa Pacific, the team quickly had to swing into action to find another organization with which to partner. We were delighted to secure an agreement with the highly reputable mission organization, STINT. Our seniors left this week for 8 days in Guatemala. During this time, they will be stretched, challenged, encouraged, serve, and will be a little uncomfortable. The preparation through their formative years should allow for a genuine ‘growth and unification’ experience and have provided a foundation on which they can be impacting.

LIKE Film Screening
Friday, April 26 @ 6:00 p.m.
We invite all parents to join us in the Life Center Auditorium for a screening of the film LIKE.

LIKE is an IndieFlix Original documentary that explores the impact of social media on our lives. Technology is a tool. It’s here to stay and social platforms are a place to connect, share and care, but what’s really happening? Are we addicted? How do we stop? Where do we start? What do we need to know? By understanding the effects of technology and social media on the brain, on our lives and on our civilization, we can learn how to navigate it more safely together.

Our goal for this film is to inspire people of all ages, especially kids, to self regulate. It’s not about blame. It’s about looking in the mirror and empowering ourselves to create balance in our lives and to learn to be there for each other.

Art Room Special Request
The LCA art room is in need of plastic bottles for an upcoming sculpture project. The water bottle style is what we need most, but we would also love some 2 liter bottles and half gallon or gallon milk jugs. Please rinse the bottles and remove any labels if possible. Also, please keep the lids on as they will make it easier to glue the bottles during the project. Donations may be dropped off in the art room or the Upper School Office.
