Teach 2 INCLUDE Conference: “Leading with World Languages” |
UAH will host the Teach 2 INCLUDE Conference on Thursday, June 15, 2023. This conference gives educators in K–12 and higher education from across the region the opportunity to explore the challenges surrounding diversity and inclusivity and share methods for making a difference. All faculty and staff are invited to submit proposals for presentations or workshops to the conference. Registration will open later in the spring.

Our Classroom Computers Are Getting An Update! |
In May, when Spring semester has ended, all classroom computers will be reimaged and updated to Windows 11 to maintain performance and provide better security.
What does that mean?
|
- Anything you have saved on your profile on a classroom computer will be erased.
-
When you go into the classroom, your profile will have to be rebuilt—and that will take a few minutes. Please plan ahead!
|
Microsoft Office 365 is Coming to UAH Classrooms |
To provide better support and a more robust experience for faculty, Microsoft Office 2021 on the classroom computers will be replaced with Microsoft Office 365 when they are reimaged in May.
What Will Change
When you open PowerPoint or any other Microsoft Office app, you will be prompted to login to a Microsoft account. You do not have to do this to run your presentation. If you have an account and want to use it, you may login.
You will need to log in to use all the functions in the software like adding or changing animations in PowerPoint.
|
Want to Test Drive the new MS Windows 11 in the Classroom? |
Email helpdesk@uah.edu to set up a time to “test drive” Windows 11 in a classroom podium and check out Office 365 with your workflow.
|
Software on Classroom Computers |
Starting in Fall 2023, any software installed on classroom computers must go through an External Tool approval process that includes a cybersecurity and legal review.
To start the process, complete this form and you will be emailed further instructions.
Note: This process will take approximately three to six (~3–6) months to complete depending on vendor responsiveness. Also, very little freeware will meet the criteria needed to be installed.
Software used on a personal device in the classroom does not have to be reviewed.

| Get Ready for Summer 2023! |
If you are the instructor of record in Banner for a summer course(s), you should see that course(s) in Canvas now. If you do not, check with your department to make sure you are listed as the instructor. If you still have issues, email helpdesk@uah.edu to get assistance.
Fall courses will begin appearing in Canvas the first full week of June.
Here are a few things to keep in mind as you prepare your courses for your course delivery:
|
-
If you would like to reuse content from a previous semester or master course you may import that content into your spring Canvas course.
-
If you plan to import content from a course that previously used Zoom, please watch this video tutorial BEFORE importing your course content.
- If you would like to cross-list (merge) your courses, please contact Canvas Support for assistance.
-
Visit your summer classroom(s) before the first day of class to familiarize yourself with the equipment. Turn on the system and do a dry run. Notice something amiss? Report the issue to helpdesk@uah.edu so that we can help address it before the new semester begins.
