Attorney General Jeff Landry led the LADOJ through a great month of October. From protecting our students to protecting our rights, our office continues fighting and winning for Louisiana. Below are some highlights from the successful month.

Our Solicitor General Liz Murrill made arguments at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit against Joe Biden's misguided and unconstitutional vaccine mandate for federal contractors.

Attorney General Jeff Landry led a 13-state coalition calling for Joe Biden to rescind Executive Order 14019 which authorizes the executive branch to utilize all federal executive agencies' power, resources, and reach to carry out voter registration and voter mobilization activities. We must protect our election system to ensure fair and transparent elections, untainted by undue influence.

AG Jeff Landry reacted to the release of updated National Assessment of Education Progress exam scores which showed a continued decline in rankings for fourth-grade math, eighth-grade math, and eighth-grade reading in Louisiana by highlighting that there is very little to celebrate. “Education must be a priority, and our leaders need to have the courage to speak honestly and directly to parents about the failures in our education system. There is no greater priority than ensuring that all children are given access to quality education. No child should be forced to attend a failing school.”

Our office recently provided drug deactivation pouches to the Council on Aging in Terrebonne Parish. It's another way we are trying to keep medications out of the wrong hands, especially since we have found that the majority of opioid addicts start their addiction with someone else’s prescription. For information on how to safely dispose of your unused, unwanted, or expired prescriptions, please visit www.EndTheEpidemicLA.org.

Attorney General Jeff Landry is calling on the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices to not include the COVID-19 shot on the list of child immunizations. In leading many of his colleagues, AG Landry emphasized that our Nation’s kids are not the federal government’s guinea pigs.

Shortly after we amended our complaint to add 47 defendants – including top officials at the CDC, the FBI, and the White House – to our lawsuit against the federal government for allegedly colluding with social media giants to censor freedom of speech, a U.S. District Court Judge granted that request and allowed us to depose Dr. Anthony Fauci, former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, FBI Supervisory Special Agent Elvis Chan, and other top-ranking officials in the federal government.

Every 40 seconds, a child goes missing in the United States; and when a child goes missing, time matters. The sooner law enforcement has the right information, the sooner they can locate the child; and the better the chances are for a safe recovery. So Attorney General Jeff Landry, the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association, and LSU football legend Kevin Faulk announced a partnership with the National Child ID Program to provide child ID kits to Louisiana students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grades.

With October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the LADOJ hosted a Domestic Violence Training in our Baton Rouge. Visit www.BreakTheSilenceLA.com for resources and information that can help survivors of domestic violence.

Our Solicitor General Liz Murrill and her federalism team secured a huge victory when the State Supreme Court ruled that the Ramos decision would not be applied retroactively in Louisiana. The court action reaffirmed long-final convictions in many cases involving violent crimes. Attorney General Jeff Landry said the court overwhelmingly made the right decision, “ruling any other way on this issue would have completely crippled our criminal justice system, which is already on life support.”

In January, Attorney General Jeff Landry called on Treasurer John Schroder to no longer invest with BlackRock, Inc. after discovering the firm’s embrace of net-zero emissions policies regarding domestic energy production. Then in August, the AG Landry launched an investigation which showed that BlackRock may have violated its fiduciary duty of loyalty owed to their investor-clients in Louisiana – leading to the Attorney General issuing legal guidance to the Treasurer. Recently, Treasurer Schroder heeded AG Landry’s call with the State of Louisiana divesting $794M from BlackRock.
For more info on how BlackRock seemingly prioritizes their own agenda on climate change, politics, and other self-interests over their client’s best interests – check out the Attorney General’s guest column “Divest from BlackRock Before It Divests You.”

The Consent Decree in New Orleans has got to go! Law enforcement in the Crescent City has been commandeered by hug-a-thug policies and practices at the expense of our hard-working taxpayers, and too many lives have been lost due to the Decree’s ineffectual and ridiculous requirements. Attorney General Jeff Landry will continue to explore all legal avenues to end the NOLA consent decree as soon as possible.

As Attorney General Jeff Landry predicted, the Governor's failed criminal justice reform, has resulted in new victims of violent crime. So he is excited about a proposal by Representative Alan Seabaugh to study the dramatic rise in violent crime in Louisiana with an emphasis on determining its cause and crafting solutions to help tackle the problem legislatively.

Why are taxpayers subsidizing the sexualization of children? Attorney General Jeff Landry explores this question and encourages fellow parents, guardians, and taxpayers to ask more like it in an op-ed that you may read by clicking here.

A former deputy with the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office was convicted of many Internet Crimes Against Children. District Attorney Tony Clayton, who prosecuted the case, credited our office for "bringing forth the evidence to take this man off the street."
